The architect of the twin towers was Minoru Yamasaki.  You can read more about

Without commenting on whether god had anything to do with this or not... (...) This particular one is noteworthy... you can see gods hand in it if you like, it is said he moves in mysterious ways, but the reason these towers didn't collapse right (...)
