The Caeric Revolution Part 3: The Budget Crisis (20 Qt. - 38 Sx. 900)

20 Qt. 900. Coplton.

Etineau takes a loan from Neuborg and Minola
With the budget crisis deepening, Gov. Etineau was forced to take an operating loan from Lord Neuborg and Domino Minola today. The amount was undisclosed. The operating loan releaved some fears that the government may not be able to pay the soldiers of the Northern Army and the Coplton Garrison. In a further agreement between Etineau and Neuborg, Neuborg agreed to financially support the government in exchange for developing and controlling the tax system in Caerany. Neuborg plans on accompaning the expedition to Glen Daerndd to study the source of the money problems.

Neuborg agrees to support the government financially.

The Northern Army 1st and 2nd Regiments leave for Glen Daerndd
The 1st and 2nd Regiments of the Northern Army, under the command of Commander Moring, left for Glen Daerndd today. Their mission is to bulster Glen Daerndd from corruption and other anti-government forces. Lord Neuborg and his assistant Bellnin are accompaning them.

The NA Special Mission arrives in Glen Daerndd, greeted by Capt. Elyzabet
The Northern Army Special Mission arrived in Glen Daerndd today after a two day march. They found the city practically empty of traders and commerce, which Capt. Elyzabet (of the Daerndd Garrison) claims is the source of the money problems. There was no explanation for the drop in trade. Com. Moring and Neuborg decide to remain in the city and observe its problems for a little while. The size of the NASM pushes Daerndd’s ability to house people, forcing Moring to quarter them in civilian homes. The friction this causes has made Moring eager to return to Coplton, according to witnesses in Glen Daerndd.

Tsin leads a sit-in outside Castle Pahl
Religious leader Tsin arrived in Coplton yesterday and reinvigorated the Arty protests, leading people from both Shivan and Abhavan backround in a sit-in outside Castle Pahl. Tsin’s objective is to force a shut down of the government’s operations and demand negotiations.

So far the protests have been quiet and peaceful, but little has gone on in the castle. Several NA units outside the walls are unable to communicate with their subcommander inside. Etineau, already stressed by the budget crisis, is getting more and more flustered. “The Caeric people can move forcefully without using force... we will be heard!” Tsin said in motivating the protestors.

Tsin negotiating with Etineau over Arty’s future
Gov. Etineau agreed today to meet with Tsin concerning Arty after six days of virtual government shut-down. Tsin agreed to cease the sit-in and urge the people to return to their normal activities, while Etineau recognized the need for a fair trial. Tsin and Etineau outlined that they will be working out the details of such a fair trial.

The Avek Ridge Raid
Commander Moring and Lord Neuborg decided to return to Coplton, leaving the 2nd Regiment under Subcommander Tomoro in command at Glen Daerndd. Believing his troops to be safe, Moring allows his men to break tight formation.

Lord Neuborg arrived in Coplton today, but without any portion of the Northern Army or his assistant Bellnin. Neuborg casted aside questions about the army saying he “left early.” He went on in outlining his comprehensive new tax system, that would tax manufactured goods as well as commerce. He also outlined several emergency taxes that would place tolls on roads and outside cities and on agricultural goods. Such fundamentally different tax laws cannot go into effect with Neuborg or Etineau’s decision alone, but require the authority of the sovereign, James Henry. Etineau formally requested James Henry’s presence at a Royal Court meeting set for the next week.

Etineau and Tsin reach an agreement
Hot on the heels of Neuborg’s tax plan announcement, Gov. Etineau and Tsin have reached a tentative agreement about the Arty Trial. The trial will take place in Glen Daerndd as a neutral but Lonsan controlled area. The Judge would be the Earl of Touveax, neutral because of his Cueti (non-Caer, non-Lonsan) ethnicity. Touveax’s decision will then be agreed to by Etineau and James Henry on the Lonsan side and Tsin and Dokeste on the Caer side. All four people must attend or send a representative to the trial. If found guilty, Arty will be executed in Glen Daerndd by firing squad. If found innocent, Arty will be taken to Glen Caer to be set free. The deal must be approved by James Henry, and was placed on the Royal Court agenda by Etineau.

32 Sx. 900. Kozlyn Peninsula.

Mel Miran, remaining at Kozlyn to defend against a future Zin invasion, was attacked today by a squad of black ninja. They are quickly repulsed and Miran decides to reinforce defences.

33 Sx. 900. Edoine Peninsula.

Miyamoto arrives with his army to Edoine Peninsula.
Melkya Minamoto, unable to break through at Kozlyn, has loaded his men onto ships and landed them at Edoine Peninsula, north of Glen Caer. This move cuts through Miran’s defenses and places Miyamoto on the continent, dangerously close to Glen Caer. Jorchi and Dokeste are both suprised.

Mel Miran recieves word to march to Edoine
Dokeste realizing the feint, orders Mel Miran to move her army to Edoine. Meanwhile Dokeste gathers Abhavan warriors of his own to meet Miran there, where he hopes to neutralize Miyamoto either diplomatically or forcefully.

Jorchi sends Mel Tomas to Miyamoto
Fearing that the Zin-Abhavan fighting will appear on his doorstep, Jorchi has decided to send Mel Tomas to Miyamoto to ensure Shivan neutrality. With Tomas Jorchi is sending only a skeleton guard, trying not to provoke a “Sesoly” battle.

38 Sx. 900. Coplton.

The Royal Court meets
James Henry sits to consider policy on the Northern Army and Caeric politics, Neuborg’s Tax Plan, and the Arty Agreement. The meeting has added intensity because the 1st Regiment of the Northern Army still has not returned from Glen Daerndd!
