The Caeric Revolution Part 4: Encounter at Edoine

39 Sx. 900.

Mel Tomas met with Miyamoto today to maintain Shivan neutrality in the growing civil war between Abhavans and the Qi. Miyamoto agreed to neither attack, nor ask for assistance from Jorchi or any Shivan. In exchange, the Shivans agreed to never attack the Qi, and support any call for a qurlitay made by Miyamoto. Tomas did not specify if Jorchi would support Miyamoto in a bid for qan.

The Battle of Edoine
Mel Miran’s forward scouts locate the forward portion of Miyamoto’s army in Edoine heading towards Coplton.

General Appleyard begins to draw close to Edoine. Both Miyamoto and Dokeste take notice. Dokeste especially must decide between possibly engaging the Lonsans or leaving Miyamoto unchecked. Appleyard’s orders are to quell any fighting there may be. He left only after the 1st Regiment finally returned to Coplton under the command of Subcommander Ronnel.

Dokeste decides to avoid the Northern Army, and leaves for Kozlyn. The army itself is somewhat upset; after fighting so hard at Edoine, now they are turning and retreating. But an encounter with the Northern Army may have proven to be even more disasterous.

With no fighting to quell, Appleyard peacably meets with Miyamoto and begins to negotiate his withdrawl from Copecaer. Miyamoto greets Appleyard with the hope of using the Lonsans to further his own political interests. It is questionable, however, what Appleyard may promise without James Henry’s support.

31 Sp. 900. Wolf Forrest.

The Wolf Clan met today in a jirga to discuss and decide on various issues concerning the Clan. The main issue is the growing momentum of Mel Kian’s rebellion against the Lonsans. Mel Ober, shown here giving his argument against the war, stood for not fighting the Lonsans. Ober believes the Lonsans will defeat the Caers like they did in 879. “My interest is in the future of my family and my people” Ober said. “Some may call me a coward, but I’ll not die for some fool’s notion of freedom.” But the Wolf Clan was not persuaded by Ober’s arguments. The Clan overwhelmingly decided to support Kian, if not by joining swords, then by verbal defence. Prominent Wolf Rikly of Coplton said, “I am not a man of violence, but the government’s continued holding of innocent Arty must be confronted.”

Etineau announced today that the new Tax was ready for implementation. James Henry selected tax collectors and sent them to Glen Daerndd and Glen Caer. There is word about much unrest from Glen Caer, the center of Copecaer production.

Melkya Jorchi, in protest of James Henry’s new tax, has taken the tax collector prisoner and sent his guard back to Coplton with the message “There will be no money taken from here.” Jorchi ascertains that while Glen Caer is the center of artisans and other producers in Copecaer, most transactions are done by barter not currency, leaving Glen Caer “money-poor.” These two things have given Glen Caer an unnecessarily high tax burden that it couldn’t possibly meet. Mel Tomas also points out, “By former agreements between the Lonsans and Caers, the correct procedure would be to contact local chiefs for their input, and/or okay. James Henry believes we will all act like sheep, and we won’t.” Although it is unknown as to exactly how, but James Henry is sure to react.

Jorchi contacted Mel Kian today to ask for assistance in the coming reaction by James Henry. Kian agreed to support Jorchi in “whatever way I could, including military actions.”

James Henry, outraged by Jorchi’s actions, has decided to send Appleyard to attack Glen Caer and assert Lonsan superiority. James Henry himself will lead the still weary 1st Regiment to Edoine to conclude negotiations with Miyamoto. James Henry’s personal involvement suggests growing distrust of Governor Etineau, who has openly shown dislike of the young prince. Many say Etineau has issues with how James Henry has blown off the Arty issue.

27 Oc. 900. Coplton.

Tsin has organized another protest to force James Henry to decide about Arty. “Ignoring an issue is not a way to deal with it” Tsin said. “James Henry feels he doesn’t have to be bound by his obligations as head of the government.” The protestors, as they have been since Tsin’s arrival, remained organized and peaceful, although forward and direct. Local leader Calib Simkul: “Tsin’s method is very simple. We won’t throw stones, but we will act in such a way that forces the government to act. If the government continues to ignore us, violence will be the result.”

29 Oc. 900. Coplton

James Henry abruptly ended the Arty issue today; by ordering and carrying out the execution of the suspected Wolf. Etineau has come forth with implied criticism against James Henry’s decision. With the execution, Tsin has left Coplton. “My road is that of peace. The prince has chosen otherwise.” With Tsin gone, the protests have deevolved into riots.

James Henry, eager to leave Coplton, ordered the Northern Army and Coplton Garrison to bust through the rioters. The Prince also order the imprisonment of random rioters. His actions seem to be provoking the rioters, rather than quelling them.

31 Oc. 900. Coplton.

A group of Copltonian citizens calling themselves ‘Blue Morning’ have raided and destroyed the now vacant Northern Army Barracks outside Coplton. This is the first of such action carried out by urban citizens, and not the rebel group Cairn Firriney. Local witnesses also report the members of Blue Morning carrying away several barrels of gunpowder.

33 Oc. 900. Edoine

James Henry reached Edoine today, thus allowing Appleyard to begin his march to Glen Caer.
