A small yet attractive model, the Ninja’s Ambush model captures essence of a historical attack on a poorly defended merchandise escort, although it’s not the most interesting.

Taking a short look at the model, I can say with honestly that it is not a most significant set (how could something with forty or so pieces pull off a feat of that extent?), but it definitely does present a decent look or an oriental cart and impending attack on it. The model itself represents a classic scene straight out of a jackie chan or indiana jones sort of film, pretty noteworthy for a set of its size.

From tearing away the parts from this model, I was surprised to find a variety of useful parts, although bricks and plates weren’t a significant factor in them. However, the inclusion of coins, folding sides, chains, a translucent vat, katanas and a variety of other goodies (which definitely perked the rating). In regards to inventory, this model is definitely worth it!

With these aspects in mind, there really wasn’t much to color scheme in this set, although pulling that off with such a small model isn’t really something you’d take ten minutes out of the design factor to consider. Still, the use of a consistent red and black with gold highlights and the grey for the rocky outcropping for the assailant was found to be pretty much appropriate for this scene.

In regards to function, I could not find any complaints here, although it could have been nice to include some more foliage to fold off to the side and further hide the attacker. The sides of the model, however, fold outwards to reveal a compartment for imperial wares.

In a sense of alternate models, I really couldn’t find much to build with this model besides *gasp* another cart or something in that respect. For a better building experience, I would suggest procuring a copy of Ninja’s Blazing attack.

On finalization, I would reccommend this set to the collector or the builder due to its affordable price, collectionof great parts and general appeal. This is definitely not worth passing up!

My suggestions? go ahead and purchase one if you’re in it for the inventory!
