The Battle of Degdan Plain: 1 Nonyl 900

Mel Kian and Melkya Jorchi have met to coordinate defence of Glen Caer. Jorchi has agreed to give Kian field command. Kian incorporates the two armies into two groups: Archers to be lead by Blackhand, and Swordsmen to be lead by Kian himself. The Shivans ready for battle.

Appleyard decides to follow standard Lonsan anti-barbarian tactics, and gives half his army sabers, while keeping the other half with crossbows. He hopes to cut the Shivans to shreds.

The two armies meet on Degdan Plain, outside Glen Caer.

The two armies face off. With little terrain to deal with, Appleyard feels confident that Kian can’t play any of his guerilla tricks.

The two armies charge eachother, while Blackhand leads the archers away perpendicular to the action.

The swordsmen begin to fight. Appleyard readies his crossbowmen to take any shot they can get, especially to cover the sabers. The highly trained NA are more than a match for the outnumbering Shivan barbarians.

Appleyard orders the sabers to break into two wings and swing open, allowing the crossbowmen to shoot down the center. Shivans begin falling.

Suddenly Blackhand and the Archers show up just behind Appleyard’s flank, hidden by the slow slope of the Plain.

The Archers send down a hail of arrows, and the suprised Lonsans begin losing men. Kian urges his men onward, and the Shivans surge to take advantage of the stricken Northern Army. Appleyard, suprised and confused, orders a retreat. Again, the Shivans have lost more men, but take the battlefield.
