Castle and medieval sets Review page.

Welcome to the Castle and Medieval sets review page!

Here, I have arranged yet another comprehensive set of castle and medieval relates sets reviews, so without further ado, I present the reviews section. Hope you enjoy!

Set Name: Armor Shop
Rating: 9/10
Overall Model: 2/2
Parts Selection: 2/2
Color Scheme: 2/2
Function: 2/2
Alternate Models: 1/2

Ah, another of the true “classics” of the castle era, a time when both design and integrity were implemented into a model instead of one or the other, a common testiment to current models you see on the shelves of your favorite toy store. The armor shop seems to be an accurate reflection of what a ‘civilian’ set should be, a nice assortment of knight minifigures, plenty of weapons and armor, as well as a nice selection of basic bricks, and roofing elements, which do quite well for alternate models. Although it may be a tad difficult to build alternated with this set, given its low amount of parts, you many need to combine it with other sets, such as a Guarded Inn to get a better feel of its potential. The color scheme is nice for a medieval setting with a plethora of grey and red elements, and you even get two unique elements to this set, one being the ever coveted black sword, and the other a red crusader styled flag. Anyway, if you find this set at a public auction or at Ebay for less than $35, pick it up! You won’t regret it if you’re a true castle fan.

Set Name Castle Minifigures
Rating: 9/10
Overall Model: Well, it’s not exactly a model 2/2
Parts Selection: 2/2
Color Scheme: 2/2
Function: 2/2
Alternate Models: 1/2

Well, you may be wondering why I am reviewing this product if it isn’t exactly a model, so perhaps I should tell you now. Although it doesn’t officially count as a set, It is quite a useful accessory pack to build castle armies, or even better, to complete your castle collection. Minifigure packs such as these seems to be a worthwhile investment, as forestmen and crusader figures get increasingly rare every year, (you don’t see peasants that often, do you?). Anyway, this set comes with quite an exquisite variety of figures, which gives an equal representation of each theme from the late ‘80’s, a plethora of weaponry, helmetry and shields, and of course, a supplement to your minifig army. However, since alternate models would be practically impossible with a minifigure set, I had to compromise with the notion that torsos, weapons, etc could be switched to add a more “customizable look” to your figures. Either way, it really doesn’t matter, since this set is quite a useful addition to any castle collection, so If you see one, pick it up right away!

Set Name: Black Falcon’s Fortress
Rating: 10/10 perfect!
Overall Model: 2/2
Parts Selection: 2/2
Color Scheme: 2/2
Function: 2/2
Alternate Models: 2/2

I would have to say this set is among one of the best examples of what a castle set should be, plenty of minifigures, lots of basic bricks, and of course, a decent design to boot. The Black Falcon’s Fortress seems to be an accurate reflection of an earlier ‘84 set called Knight’s Castle , but both models act the same, the BFF having less modularity, but all the well, having a compromise with more specialized pieces. The parts selection is quite well for a castle model, with a lot of grey bricks, which gives it nice structure, and the color scheme bounds well, with the traditional grey and yellow medley, which is a bit refreshing compared to the yellow castle set. Overall, the Black Falcon’s Fortress has a lot of great parts, including tudor walls, the unique flag, and an excellent alternate model function, so it is truely worthy of a perfect ten, and gets my vote for a Legend Candidate...

I am still undecided on the Legend voting for castle but I voted for the Battrax model, because I can’t stand back and watch as .castle tries to overtake the space with a seemingly unfair voting leverage. Sorry, castleheads, the Battrax gets my vote:)
