  Re: Upon Further Review...barrier answer

I will tell you what the book said. The book noted that those barriers are a security device designed to slow down and halt intruders getting close to the basement area of the palace. Apparently they tripped the security system while on route on the (...) (25 years ago, 24-May-99, to lugnet.starwars)

  Re: Upon Further Review...barrier answer

(...) Ahh, cool -- that makes sense now! Say, although DM seemed a bit surprised when he realized he was trapped in the final containment field adjacent QGJ's, do you think there's any chance that DM might've somehow known about these a little bit (...)   Re: Upon Further Review...barrier answer

(...) But what the heck is all that stuff (bridges, security systems, etc.) in the basement? In Ep V, I can see why they had the shaft for the cloud city, but why on Naboo? The basement (if that's what it was) didn't match anything else on the (...) (25 years ago, 24-May-99, to lugnet.starwars)

  Re: Upon Further Review...barrier answer

(...) What I want to know is why OBK couldn't run fast enough to make it all the way through the barriers. Remember how fast he and QGJ moved when they were on the ship and facing the destroyer droids? Then they were moving at "ludicrous speed" -- (...) (25 years ago, 25-May-99, to lugnet.starwars)

  Re: Upon Further Review...barrier answer

(...) Yeah, how did they do that, anyway?! They couldn't've fooled the battle droids -- they're immune to Jedi mind tricks, right? --Todd (25 years ago, 25-May-99, to lugnet.starwars)

  Re: Upon Further Review...barrier answer

(...) Jedi Speed. It's a commonly (read, in more than one Star Wars book/game/etc) used Force ability. My personal guess as to none of them- Obi-Wan, Maul, or Qui-Gon- used it to get through the barriers is that they were busy using the Force in (...) (25 years ago, 25-May-99, to lugnet.starwars)

  Re: Upon Further Review...barrier answer

(...) But... but... but... OWK was doing _one_ thing - trying to run through the barriers. If that is not a good time to use speed, what is? So that is not a good, complete answer. Unless in some later movie OWK, in retelling this story, smacks his (...) (25 years ago, 25-May-99, to lugnet.starwars)

  Re: Upon Further Review...barrier answer

(...) Let's see... he books it really fast into the little room with Maul, who uses his souped up reflexes to chop him down, because Obi-Wan's natural reflexes are unable to let him block the strike. A good time to use speed, to me, would be when (...) (25 years ago, 25-May-99, to lugnet.starwars)

  Re: Upon Further Review...barrier answer

From what I remember, the book mentioned that it was appearing that Maul was leading them somewhere intentionally. So I think he was trying to separate them. Correct, Maul was pacing, Q was meditating, OWK was bouncing. Sorry. My favorite part was (...) (25 years ago, 25-May-99, to lugnet.starwars)

(...) That's it! Lucas still had the old sets laying around, he figured he could save a few coins by recycling... Steve (25 years ago, 25-May-99, to lugnet.starwars)
