I'd drive an hour or more into NJ for a casual meeting, and as far as necessary for a fest. (I just couldn't go last weekend, I had to go to Albany.) NELUG let me "join" alright, though I haven't driven 4 hours from NYC to Boston for a meeting yet. (I did visit TCS at least!) Ed Boxer (Staten Island) has tried to organize a meeting, but it always falls through somehow.
