I bet a Slave 1 would be a $30 set, just like the X-wing and Sith
Infiltrator (if there are only two of them, and they keep their identities
secret, why do they have a ship named after them?)

Two things.  The Slave 1 is not a very easy ship to design well with Legos. • I
should know, I've been working on one for a few months now.  I'm not • convinced
that there will be an official Slave1.  I'm also a little scared that if it • is
made it will contain a lot of special curved large peices.

They'll likely need special curved large pieces for the MF, too?  I don't
think that will stop them, though.

Actually now that I
think about it you really could make it work with just a couple of special
pieces for the base, and use non-inverted versions of boat hulls (like the • ones
in the Naboo fighter) for the neck.  The front mandible can be made well • with
just normal slopes.  Hmmmm....  It makes me wish I had Lego's recources.
Second thing, the canaopy of the slave one is very specialized.  The would • have
to make a part that would only be used fro one set.  That seems unlikely. • What
do you guys think?

Considering they introduced 3 new canopies for the 1999 SW sets, I'd say it's
quite likely we'd see a new one for the Slave 1 and another for the MF.  Then
we'll see those canopies show up in other places, too--not neccessarily in
clear.

Bottom line:  I think TLG will do what it takes to make the SW models people
want most.  New pieces or "unselective compression" such as the Sith
Infiltrator are insignificant compared to the profit potential of these
products.

I am still getting that eerie feeling that the back of the MF could be made from the exact back of the arachnoid starbase. EEEeeepppp. That would make it roughly 1 foot wide and use a couple hundred pieces to make up the front end. Then the back (...) (25 years ago, 1-Jul-99, to lugnet.starwars)
