SW Lego Design Contest Rules Version 1.0 —Pat Justison
I have come up with some categories and rules for the contest. I have come up with 8 categories. Here they are: Best Mini-Fig Scale Model Best Micro-Fig Scale Model Best Alternate Model of Official SW Lego Set (any set) Best Official SW Lego Model (...)      what are the rules with cad models? can you use any unofficial parts you like? (25 years ago, 23-May-99, to lugnet.starwars)

Re: SW Lego Design Contest Rules Version 1.0 —Pat Justison
I think all points should be discussed in a committee. No pun intended. I think any piece could be used as long as it was produced in at least some color. In terms of printed pieces, the same thing goes, any color is fine as long as the design was (...) (25 years ago, 24-May-99, to lugnet.starwars)

good idea. but any cad model that uses a piece in a color it does not come in should be excluded from other catogries. anyway what i really ment is can people use ldraw parts that have not been released in an update yet? (25 years ago, 24-May-99, to lugnet.starwars)

Re: SW Lego Design Contest Rules Version 1.0 —Pat Justison
(...) I dunno, it sounds good though. Maybe excluded from other catagories but still up for best overall? (...) No. That wouldn't be very fair. Pat J (25 years ago, 24-May-99, to lugnet.starwars)

Re: SW Lego Design Contest Rules Version 1.0 —Jonathan Wilson
i think that we should limit it to: up to update 99-03 (the one with the backpack) + contest parts made avaliable on the contest web page (such as the wing pieces and the engine piece and others). that way cad models would not be at any great (...)         Re: SW Lego Design Contest Rules Version 1.0 —Ryan Dennett
Can you enter more than one model. I have an altenate I'd like to submit, but I also have a MOC that I really want to submit. Are you nuts?!?! You really wouldn't give away that Slave 1 you were working on would you?!?! Ryan "Build or build not. (...) (25 years ago, 24-May-99, to lugnet.starwars)

Re: SW Lego Design Contest Rules Version 1.0 —Pat Justison
(...) Submit as many models as you can! (...) It would not be giving it away. I want to see everyone put in a good effort in designing and building their SW models. I think everyone here can do some spectacular work. To give that extra incentive (...) (25 years ago, 24-May-99, to lugnet.starwars)

Re: SW Lego Design Contest Rules Version 1.0 —Bram Lambrecht
(...) Sounds great! By "any set" do you mean that the alternate model need not be SW related, just built with parts from an SW set? Will the CAD model be based on a DAT file or on a POV rendering? If on a POV rendering, will the quality of the (...) (25 years ago, 24-May-99, to lugnet.starwars)

Re: SW Lego Design Contest Rules Version 1.0 —Terry Keller
(...) If you submit a low-quality rendering, how could that not affect the judges opinion? If the image appears blocky or pixelated, it would be human nature to not appreciate the underlying quality of the model as much. IMO. -- Terry K -- (25 years ago, 24-May-99, to lugnet.starwars)

Re: SW Lego Design Contest Rules Version 1.0 —Jeff Stembel
(...) to (...) I'm fine with this as long as a POV-rendered model isn't chosen over an LDraw model *because* it is POV-rendered. Jeff (25 years ago, 24-May-99, to lugnet.starwars)

Re: SW Lego Design Contest Rules Version 1.0 —Ryan Dennett
I think that if you POV Ray it then it should be decent quality(AA on). But say I do one of just the model and then one of the model with a background then they really should be the same when being judged. This only seems fair because some (...) (25 years ago, 24-May-99, to lugnet.starwars)

Re: SW Lego Design Contest Rules Version 1.0 —Pat Justison
I will not judge based on the quality of the rendering. That is the only way to do it. (...) (25 years ago, 24-May-99, to lugnet.starwars)
