Instructions: You need to click the picture to see the animation. Set the screen size to fit 320X200 to see it turn the fastest. (25 years ago, 30-Sep-99, to lugnet.space)

I have not heard from anyone if this works or not on their machine. Any comments appreciated. (...) (25 years ago, 2-Oct-99, to lugnet.space)

I really, really need someone to see if this works on their machine, PLEASE! Just click the picture, set it to fit 320X200, wait for it to download, and watch it spin around. All comments welcome. Thanks, Rick (...) (25 years ago, 2-Oct-99, to lugnet.space)

(...) It works on my machine (Netscape Communicator 4.06 on SunOS), but the animation is kind of jerky- it seems to take a bit longer to download the new frame than is smooth, and I'm sitting behind several T3s. Also, the station seems to be (...) (25 years ago, 2-Oct-99, to lugnet.space)

  Re: Animated Space Station

Phew! Thanks a lot Eric! I was beginning to worry if it worked. Its only 7 pics so its jerky. Top was not fixed to base exactly so it wobbles a bit. This was a first attempt. Need to redo with more frames with each as small as possible. Thanks again (...) (25 years ago, 2-Oct-99, to lugnet.space)

It looks like it's dancing. I've done a 3 minute stop-motion Super 8 film about an outpost that meets aliens and a ancient alien artifact of great power. It's gotten a lot of laughs from all the people I've showed it to. I hope to get it transferred (...) (25 years ago, 11-Nov-99, to lugnet.space)

Sorry for the multiple posts. My computer took a real long time the first time and thought it hung-up (never got the confirmation message), so I posted it again. I don't know why it was posted three times. Again, sorry. (25 years ago, 11-Nov-99, to lugnet.space)

We did that in 8th grade with 8mm, think that was '84 - '85. But my friend had this neon orange pencil which worked wonders as a laser. One or two frames with it laid across from what was shooting to what was hitting and it was great. The affect was (...) (25 years ago, 11-Nov-99, to lugnet.space)

(...) Cool Space Station!!! Works well on my machine, almost too well. Have to really watch for the minifig and the docked craft, as they must be pulling 5 or 6 G's with the rotational speed ;) Love the still pics the best as you can really see the (...) (25 years ago, 12-Nov-99, to lugnet.space)

Pete, Thanks for checking out my animated space station. I thought it almost went by unnoticed again. It could be smoother, but the file would be twice as big. Also, the bigger you make the display window, the slower it rotates. Seems like most (...) (25 years ago, 12-Nov-99, to lugnet.space)

  Re: Animated Space Station

Hey Rick I liked it too, its just hard to respond to every ng posting and every email. I a big fan of creating rotating images of models. I like being able to see a model from many angles, sort of a catalogue of images, but put together in a movie. (...) (25 years ago, 12-Nov-99, to lugnet.space)

(...) Gosh, Rick, I'm sorry I didn't take the time to stroke your ego... <smile> Actually, I enjoyed your space station animation the first time that you publicized it, somewhat over a month ago. Back then I was "read-only" on LUGNET. Didn't you (...) (25 years ago, 13-Nov-99, to lugnet.space)

(...) I saw it, and I think I told you I liked it. But if you want to impress people, you gotta make CAD-stuff, like my animations. People love ´em :-) Here´s the link to them: (URL) I don´t think people are impressed if you make a spinning cheese (...) (25 years ago, 13-Nov-99, to lugnet.space)

Tobias, Yeah you where 1 of 2 people that saw it. I posted a thank you. I have 2 questions: Can a CAD program make something as big as my station? And can I do it on a Mac? Rick (...) (25 years ago, 13-Nov-99, to lugnet.space)

Hi John, No need to stroke my ego. :) Just acknowledging you saw it is fine. Glad you enjoyed it. I see my response proding bait worked. :) No offense to anyone.   Re: Animated Space Station

(...) 1. If you want to make your station, it will be very much and very hard work, because it is *huge*. But smaller things, like a 50-parts spaceship, works fine. 2. I´ve used the totally free raytracer POV-ray for theese animations. Since I have (...) (25 years ago, 14-Nov-99, to lugnet.space)
