Since we don't yet have any idea about what the LEGO Direct Bulk Sales
policy is all about, I did want to mention a few things.  One is that we
shouldn't expect any great bargains in purchasing via bulk orders.  I
don't think TLC is going to undercut their Retailers.  Whatever prices
LEGO Direct charges us will probably be close to retail, not wholesale.

Back in the 1980's when Bulk Sales were still allowed, TLC charged a
minimum 10 cents for any piece, with a 100 piece/type minimum.  (Yes,
100 1x1 plates did cost $10.)  Now I cannot predict what they will be
doing for minimum/maximum bulk sales.  But AFOLs should not expect parts
that cost only 2 or 3 cents.

I would have to agree with you on this one.  I don't expect to get any real
bargans because if things are to cheap there will be little to no incentive for
us to buy sets.  I am hoping for some sort of declining scale though so that
the more you buy the less you pay per part.

I am also don't think we should expect much from the part selection either, at
least not at first.  I think they need to offer at least what has been
available in service packs in terms of Bricks, Plates, and Slopes to start with
so that we can at least get what we could with the service packs.  I am then
hopeing they will make a wider selection of colors available in those parts.
Anything after that is anyones guess I think.

Not looking for much just more than what the Service Packs offered.

Eric, You may be right about what is available in service packs, but I'm keeping my
fingers crossed for a little bit more.  Such as:

Train Windows - I don't use them, I don't need them.  But I bet that the enormous
PR and good will that the Train folks have generated with TLC will earn them the
right to get train windows as a bulk item.  They deserve them!

Town Windows - This is my greatest wish for bulk sales.  I would love to buy
thousands, and without having to buy any doors!  I'd love to see a skyscraper
contest

Arches/cylinder bricks/tiles/plates/slopes -  I can only begin to imagine what a
new "Acropolis Contest" (formerly sponsored by Erik Wilson) might produce when
people can build in unlimited quantites -- columns, colonades, and classic
embellishments in their Greek/Roman temples, circuses, ampitheaters, aquaducts and
forums.  I'm already drooling at the thought of buying a few thousand 2x2 white
cylinder bricks as well as white 2x2 tiles...... (I'd like to build the Temple of
Diana at Epheseus - one of the 7 Wonders of the Ancient World).  Hey we could have
an "Ancient Wonders Contest"!

And then there's everything else - pitchforks, damsels, highly specialized pieces,
etc.  These might have the least chance of availability in bulk sales.  But until
Lego Direct comes out with a bulk sales policy, one can only speculate.  We don't
really know.
