Coplton

Coplton is the historic capital of Caerany, and the current capital of the Lonsan Princedom of Copecaer.

  • Cairn Qaatore, the ancient fortress of kings, is the legendary place where Qan Adain (c.400) ruled. It has since been turned into the foundation for Castle Pahl, the center of Lonsan administration. Castle Pahl was built in the 880’s in responce to the Wolf Rebellion of 879.

  • Castle Pahl houses the governor’s residence (now the prince’s), along with the Thrown Room, barracks for the soldiers, and a large defensive tower.

  • The main gathering place in Coplton is Simkul Tavern, owned by Calib Simkul and his wife Beth.

  • Coplton also houses the First Bank of Coplton, which is also the Minola House (the White House with a clear glass bottom). Minolas are very rich, and therefore able to afford such luxuries as a wall made of glass. The bank is the principle way average Caers save and borrow their money.
  • In Part 2 Minola and Teyrnon rebuild their homes in downtown Coplton.

  • The blue-roofed black building with the yellow tudor front is the Aniez House, the headquarters of the Abhavan Tribe and home to Melkya Dokeste. It is where official tribal business is decided (other than Simkul Tavern), and anyone is welcome to come if they have no where else to stay.
Rikly’s Shop in the Marketplace
  • In front of Simkul Inn is the Marketplace, where traders sell everything from lamps to apples to bottles. There is also the famous Wolf Blacksmith, Rikly.

  • The black building with grey roof in the front is the Llyra House (home to the famous Llyra twins Maeve and Rain), which is also the Bakery. If you look closely you can see someone cooking bread!

Gen. Sutton has ordered the construction of barracks for the Northern Army just outside of Coplton. The 3rd Regiment will remain inside Castle Pahl as defenders of the Castle while the 1st and 2nd Regiments will relocate to the barracks. Sutton chose to build the barracks outside the city for various reasons. “I want my men to be of top fighting capacity, and being stuck in a possibly volatile urban setting will only weaken their morale. Besides this underlines the regime’s strength and vitality, as well as being able to strike any other targets if the need arises,” Sutton said. The Barracks is of typical Lonsan design: it is slightly lifted off the ground for sanitary reasons, has a large brick fireplace for warmth, and a steep roof.

Just outside Coplton is the home of respected writer and poet, Jeno of Ainot. Jeno has writen famous epic poems, such as Tarkham of Aniez and the Olman epic Odelon, as well as the humorist piece The Laughing Tree. He is currently working on a novel about a Dawrf Ship Captain, The Great Mariner
