A poetic vignette on Martrydom A poetic vignette regarding martrydom. Written 07-18-03 By M. Aaron Hein. Although prolific, the presentation of the shrouded and pious finest to the masses has never wavered throughout history, and in fact, continues to spread upon the meandering and blood strewn road known as the path to redemption. ( but in this case, perdition) However, this is the common perception of such a selfless act, and in context, what if the audience were to be thrown not to one side, but rather at the middle of the situation? From one perspective, we view martrydom as such a highly respected, selfless and honorable act, a manner of sacrificing ones self for country, and on the other hand we see credulous and misled zealots all but willing to exchange their lives to feed a perpetual cycle. In short, these obstinate followers are simply the product of a society based on meritocracy, (whether religious of in the interests of the state) the actions of one are usually revered in more extremity than the life of said martyr, although it may appear so. Those who follow in the similar paths are blind recipients of their glory, but like their forefathers, quickly slip into the depths of obscurity; it is a rarity for them to ever resurface, save for memories bound within scrapbooks, tattered newspaper clippings and state issued checks. Regarded as audacious, bold yet politically sold they are consumed with blood feuds tempered with familiar ire to shout and banter, so redundant it seems tired, but yet, conflict is unexplained, unresolvable conciliate just a meandering dream ill-prospected or so it seems through such generations for the offspring of the system to conspire, scheme and denigrate, to kill to redeem throw all similar aspects to fire and cordial differences be damned, so tried, or tired and yet, like dedicated guns and dogs they are hired afforded by common and ill founded dogma of the establishment to inspire martyrs, they call themselves, yet they fuel, not quell such ire, And thusly, perpetuate conflict - rather dire. fin... |
