Updates

May 10th, 2006

Seems like the ASPIRE Projet is rendering. I will try to get a copy of the final render posted. Also, here is a poem on youth that I wrote this week. Haven’t done poetry for a while.

April 27th, 2006

For the NASA ASPIRE project, I have a sunday deadline to get the environment sculpt completed. Here is the first pass of the sculpting. The revisions and second pass start tomorrow.

April 25th, 2006

Here’s another concept drawing for my architecture project. Also, here is a Top view showing the building, the surrounding garden and other assets. (A separate mesh for the background mountains and a matte painting for the sky.) I will be working on a color key soon to determine the lighting/ mood of the scene. I really look forward to doing this step!

April 24th, 2006

Here’s some more progress on my Architecture project. I managed to get four panels done today, a front view, top view, side view and a schematic of the rafters. Also, here is a turnaround sheet showing all the model aspects. I still need to draw out the rest of my assets, a top view of the garden and a tonal view of the whole thing. I need to complete a lot of prep work prior to modeling.

April 22nd, 2006

Well, I showed my werewolf to David Stipes and Kevin Hedgpeth (instructors at AIPX) and they suggested some revisions to the werewolf character design. So, I went back to the drawing board. Here’s the revised front , side and back views. Comparing them to the previous versions, I believe these are a definite improvement.

The next step of this process will be to create some finalized facial sketches from the concepts and a few hand/ feet studies. I will be needing them before I go into the modeling stage.

Well, I’ve started my architecture project for school - it will be a Buddhist temple situated near a japanese garden. After doing some research, several pages of concept art were completed. The idea is to show these designs to my class for peer review and critique. Page 1 shows several temple designs, page 2 shows a few structural ideas and Page 3 shows a few roof designs.

April 15th, 2006

The werewolf concept art has been finalized. Uploaded are the back, front and side views for the model. I will be finalizing a facial sheet rather soon. Modeling may not start for a while, as I have the NASA project and an architecture project coming up.

April 12th, 2006

I’m working on a few things, some rocks for the NASA Aspire project at school, and finished the final concept for my werewolf project. I still need to do the front, side and back views as well as finalized facial studies.

March 29th, 2006

Completely reworked the Wolf model. I’m currently rigging the character, and setup has taken a bit longer than expected...but I’m seeing results so far : )

March 23rd, 2006

Here’s some hands and some faces for the werewolf concept. I plan on doing more facial concepts soon...I really want to get a good feel for this character before I commit to a design. Also, here is a quick caricature...I was reading a non-sequitur comic and needed something to sketch.

March 21st, 2006

Here’s a third concept for the werewolf werewolf project. I will be incorporating more of the fox/ shaman look to this creature as soon as I begin sketching the turnaround. I will be doing facial studies soon, as well as schematics for the hands and feet.

March 19th, 2006

As an assignment for Japanese Pop culture, I decided to draw up an environment concept. I went down to the japanese friendship garden, took a few pictures for inspiration and sketched a few thumbnails. This was the result of a few passes of work.

March 18th. 2006

Here’s another concept for that character model. This one has a more werewolf-like appearance. I’m thinking of doing one last concept to try to fuse the two designs together. The hands seem to work pretty well, but The feet may need to change. More concepts coming soon (would like to model on spring break.)

March 13th, 2006

Just completed a GUI assignment for rigging in maya. The idea was to create a set of controls that are used for facial animation, but are isolated from each other, such as separate eyebrows, blinking and squash/ stretch controls. There is also a control to switch to different resolutions of the character, from low to high. Check out the screenshot.

March 6th, 2006

Here’s another sketch. I’m considering using this for a character model, but is still needs some work. What I was going for was a fox-like character with a tribal/ shaman flair to her. Not quite sure if I caught that look. I’ve got to work on the hands and feet for sure.

March 1st, 2006

Just completed an animation for the SIGGRAPH club. This was a lipsync project for class, done with some audio from Adam Sandler’s Anger Management and two of my character rigs.

February 24th. 2006

Got a render up of the wolf model that I completed last week. I will be working on this project sporadically.

February 23rd, 2006

Here’s that squirrel again...I’m currently animating this guy for a lipsync assignment.

February 22nd, 2006

New drawing. I’m thinking of experimenting with this character design...it’s for an anthropomorphic character.

February 4th, 2006
