Defense technologies, Anachronistic

Armaments types and calibrations

Projectile technologies featured within anachronitsic typically feature ambiguous/ ammunition types (i.e powder), so it is not really necessary to mention them.

General overview

The overview will work in a glossary fashion, covering styles of defense measures, many of them primitive or historical in nature.

[Model availability information.]

[Artillery] º¹
(mst.) (gauged shells) Mobile artillery-

(Other variants, rockets) | Wielded by Feyrians
Inspired by early 20th century Howitzer systems, artillery units (like musk’ets and rif’els) were originally found amongst ruins of the previous Aeon and were perfected for use by Emperor Forresfoxe, although they were quickly banned by the Ahrikari as well. Nowadays, there has been a wave of dissent amongst some warring factions, who have seeked to restore the unit to its military glory, but they currently fill few maunfacturing orders within Albatross, due to an expense of rare iron. When used, they exist in two varieties, mobile and sessile, but the latter are usually found amongst the walls of highly fortified cities and the former are strewn about battlements and hills. The cannon type units can fire exploding gunpowder shells at a target or generaly large tipped projectiles for breaking walls, giving them a very effective mortality rate. Feyrians have secretly adopted such technology in hopes that they would achieve religious independence, and LaGuardians have followed, taking the role in establishing their boundaries, which greatly distressed the DRP.

[Avians]
(mst.) (with 33mm MMG) Avian flight technology-

(Other variants Aeroes, Avians) | Wielded by Andre Kimera, DRP; Ahrikari
Inspired of the stories of those brave souls whom coasted the skies two thousand years ago, Forresfoxe, along with his war engineers, crafted a rather primitive winged unit based on designs uncovered in an excavated missile silo near Allercus and accounts of previous scholars who studied the aspects of its designs. These units, using a considerably lightweight and aerodynamic design of metal, several oil essence rotor engines and electrical components, took to the skies for two hundred years, before being permanently grounded and locked away by the religious authorities. Although largely untested in ther areas of war, it is thought that these units are possible of conducting high speed travel and general bombing raids, although with their primitive mid 20th century motor and wing technology, could easily fall to artillery units. In a contraciction to the decree, the DRP employs these units towards the end of the story in a last ditch attempt to turn the tide of the war, but achieve minimal, if negligable success.

[Feathere]
(gen.) (velocity weapon) Flamberge-

(Variants, Featherelanzer, lanzer, rapier, katana, caliber) | Wielded by Argent KP, Dash DN.
Considerably long blades ranging from thirty six inches (1000 mm) to over fifty six (1600mm), producing a clean and powerful attack on the battlefield, and in the situations where fencing is necessary. According to Feyrian standards perfected over the years and used effectively during Forresfoxe’s reign, each caliber if uniquely fashioned to meet the specifications of soldiers in training, acting off information such as build, weight, arm length and lifting strength, to ensure maximum efficiency, confidence and speed in fencing maneuvers. In effect, Albatross boasts some of the more talented swordsmen.

[MMG]
(mst.) (moderate fire powder cartridges) Shot shell gun-

Few known variants | Unknown as who wielded them
Units exavated from several on-shore archeological sites, MMGS were originally thought to have been used during the period from A.W 950-1130 during the reign of Forresfoxe, a highly influential Ahrikari, for use with primitive flying units. A marvel of engineering at the time, MMGs could rotate between a belt of pre-loaded gunpowder cartridges, utilizing lit cotton twine affixed to a contact mechanism to ignite a solid dot of powder at the back of the shell. By the year of 1200, the Ahrikari, fearing technology could somehow lead to a downfall in society, initiated a decree, thus banning the device and all of its accompanyments. From then, MMGs fell into obscurity to the general public, many of them locked away in public museums and religious centers, with the rest of Forresfoxe’s technology.

[Musk’et]
(res.) (lead shot, rifled) Trajectory aparatus-

(other variants, rif’el, flintlocks, blunderbuss, arquebus) | Wielded by Ramsay
A rare, expensive and generally effective weapon on the battlefield, Arquebus were are usually imported from ports of call and artisans cities from overseas, improvising upon the designs perfected by the venerable Forresfoxe. Utilizing a small flintlock system or ignited cotton twine affixed to a spring loaded mechanism, a small amount of black powder would be ignited, and the resulting gases would expel a small lead projectile known as a bullet towards the target. Most models of the arquebus have quite long barrels, making them only suitable for general outland hunting purposes, although they rarely suffice against quite aggressive species such as dragons of kimodas. Since the models are so expensive to manufacture (iron is a rare commodity in Albatross, and must be imported in some cases), many nations prefer a more economical take on warfare by employing archers and lancers. Thus, musk’ets are only used by the more wealthy of forces, and some highly ranked officers refuse to wield it, dismissing the technology as dishonorable.

[Naginata]
(gen.) (heavy powder shells) Puncturing lances-

(other variants, Lances, bayonet, halberd) | Wielded by Kimiahn.
Consideraby powerful lancing technology, Naginatas are relatively expensive units fashioned from ash stock and carbon steel tips, forged by foreign artisans and crafted to strictly to adhere to imperial design specifications. In this regard, they are held by high ranking and affluent units, and have the capability ot easily puncturing the armor of incoming calvary or rushing forces. Lance technology of this sort can also be found affixed to Musk’ets and generaly long halberds.

[Panzer Tanks]
(mst.) (heavy powder shells) Heavy vehicles-

(unknown how many variants.) | Wielded by Jade’s faction.
Ancient motorized technology, these oil essence engine projected units could trudge across harsh terrain, rocky plateaus and hill laced countrysides with general ease, all the while resisting enemy fire. Crafted by Forresfoxe and his war engineers, they were created to somewhat reflect reported designs on early Abrahms model tanks and the emperor’s own inspirations on tank modelling, along with ideas for a four wheel drive system. Shortly after the year 1220, the Ahrikari eliminated the production of these few models with their religious decree, and only recently they surfaced during the great Draconian religious war with Jade’s factions.
