Archival summarizations <update> May 8th, 2006 Im really surprised that this page still exists. Actually, pleasantly surprised. Its a shame that the original images are gone, but these descriptions are priceless. Nostalgia is telling me to go back and rewrite this story and make it something wonderful and I really want to. With some impending free time, I just might do that. Im deleting any anime references...I dont like the style and find it hideous. Im not sure why I saw any potential in it during my earlier years. as an aside... A series of short (and not so short) epitomes of prior scenes and the like reside within these pages, but of course theyre probably of no interest to you, so whatever... The pictures were purged from their home galleries quite a while ago, and I have no intentions on reinstating them. Read the stories all you want, but be forewarned the details wont bear true significance to Anachronistic Skies as a final product. I wrote these months ago, so its only natural that a wide degree of details may be inaccurate/ fallacious/ extraneous - some so completely off the storyline its not even worth mentioning; especially anything written before mid-january. But of course, if you like explanations of sorts, youll probably enjoy this somewhat. Hell, theyd possibly serve as small stories in their own right. The white dragon deity and kin of Rezkallah, Akael MeHan 1-19-03 // quick clarification, Dash is neither christian, nor pagan. Hes more on the agnostic side, due to his confusion about god. Perched atop the highest rung of the hierarchical ladder of the theocratic state, the white dragon Akael Mehan had been revered by countless faithful followers of the order as the incarnation of the deity, in all of its inherent holiness, grace and splendour. And yet, perceived upon the eyes of the swordsman, ever skeptical towards foreign influence, he remained a devout believer in his native faith, that was known to the old world as christianity, washed away by the tides of a millenia of holy wars between provinces long ago. The ancient adage and code of the intellectual to question all theory, no matter personal bias beckoning at him like the claw of a beautiful foreign creature, the former deacon was stricken with the saddening proposition that perhaps all that he had placed into his beliefs were fallacious, when in fact such a creature could physically exist, when his dear god could not. But then, he was only further inspired with religious fervor to seek out his gods existence, as all miracles in the world must have been the omnipresent work of his god, since such a creature of destruction, Akael MeHan could have been possible responsible for such the beauty of existence. And no matter the constant conversion attempts by his comrades, Skye and Kimiahn, Dash harboured much puissance in his faith, deeming Akael Mehan as purely an idol. Total time 73 minutes. Surveying the summit of LaGuardia... 1-17-02 As the young, but experienced swordsman grappled to the side of the rocky cliff with determination, casting askance towards the foggy and verdant ravine which lie below him, he struggled to retain his grasp upon the cliff, his armor and skin badly shorn and scarred from the climb. And yet, the summit which lie ahead of him, so much romantisized within the order and propaganda of the Kai NeHr, enticed and beckoned him, as he pushed forward with resolve against the gusty and foggy breeze, which stung his at his eyes like the venom of a serpent, blinding and stinging. Total time, 79 minutes. Conflict against the aggressor... 1-16-02 Interlocked in mutual combat with an enemy militant, as two dragons sparred about the skies, Dash began to experience battle fatigue about the fields of Faiye, as he thought back to his fond memories of his homeland. But dreams could wait, he thought, with a defensive fencing move, as yet several more arrow stocks permeated the grassy hills beside him, and a second flank of enemy forces approached from the distance to aid their comrades. And yet energing victirious from the conflict, whilst leaving behind him some severely wounded enemy forces, the victory seemed hollow to the former Deacon, as standing in the midst of the field, and atop the hill, he plunged the ruffling flag of the empire into the soil in an act of trust, to signify his presence to the others. An yet, such a technique proved efficacious, as the Lady Skye and Kimiahn rished forth, perched atop their raptor, to his ordinates, then to encounter a group of sparring dragons which lie ahead, commandeered by the enemy generals. Total time, 68 minutes. In its entirety, little sanctity 1-15-02 As Argent approached the graceful red dragon, the creature lashed violently at him with its spined tail, throwing him to the grassy ground with a force of great extent, the unheard of action scuffing his leather robe beyond recognition. Consequently from the attack, out of breath and badly wounded, Argent tried to fend the dragon off with his hands, although the creature, clearly holding regrets to its actions, surveys him with keen interest. Total time, 38 minutes The Antipode, Blake 11-14-02 Skye had never yet realized the fullest innate extent of the mysterious aura Dash had exhibited whenever she was near, even though knowledge of his past seemed conflicting. How could it be possible that such a man, although enigmatic, could possible hail from the past? And yet, to her, he possessed quite a differential aura, which bore much similarity to her father, the late Sensei Rinehart. Still not able to shrug off her suspicions of the lone wolf of a swordsman, Skye doubted his aura until he rushed to her rescue late during chapter four, jumping before her and the enemys saber which would have led her on the spiraling path to perdition. In some odd sense of innate power, Dash transformed into a graceful winged creautre, shielding the lady with his wings as aggressing forces charged ever closer. And with power of great magnitude, he annihilated them all, only to fall to his knees, unconscious, as the dust of the enemy scattered about the wind, a dazed Skye looking on. Total time 31 minutes <http://www.geekshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=52918 <http://www.geekshelf.com/gallery/Eihne/Gallery/thumb/rezkaangel.jpg_thumb.jpg Rendition>>With vigilance, eyeing the summit. 1-14-03 As the former deacon and swordsman approached the summit from his perch atop a calvary raptor, Dash could not help but wonder why such a place of Sanctity such as the summit would remain forbidden to the people, despite words of the Kai Nehr describing humans and all indigenous race to explore and analyze all phenomena in moral boundaries with the teachings. Such moral boundaries, in the theory of a liberated theocracy would have granted discretion to the citizenry to decide for themselves the varacity of their faith, and not that of the state, as it appeared eerily reminscent of his own provenance, Lucaria. Still clinging to his faith of christianity dearly, Dash realized that such aspirations would only further alienate him from the clergy of the secular state, although he could generally care less. Possessing his own plans of reconaissance, the conniving swordsman could care less about the aspirations of the state to deny him access to such a medium of knowledge, as he pressed forward to discover the truth which lie ahead of him amidst those sparkling and static escarpments of the province. Total time, 76 minutes Eminance; a secondary view. 11-18-02 Approaching the fields of the republic of Allercus, Dash Dracon had, himself, finally found a moment of solitude amongst the foliage, as he pondered his journey thus far. Assessing the the impending road ahead to the secular empire of Dragonia, after his audacious escapade from Faiye, though proved difficult for the warrior. This scene revolves around the point in which Dash realizes his journey may be more symbolic than it seems, as his venerable duty, to protect Skye takes upon more importance than ever. Unknown to the swordsmans faction, mercenary forces from LaGuardia carry out a vendetta against the perceived threat to LaGuardia, the lady Skye. After arriving at the peaceful outskirts of the citdel, Dash receives the news of the untimely death of Ludan, who finally succumbs to the musket wounds he endured during the great war. With a solemn valediction, he wishes Dash luck for the journey ahead. Total time 72 minutes Noble Swordsman, Rezka. 11-10-02 This is a small rendition of the main protagonist in my novella, Rezka, a.k.a, Dash Dracon. This drawing, rendered with a Koh-I-Noor .5mm technical pen, came out much better than anticipated, however, graphite pencil will always be my no.1 choice for renders. Total time 24 minutes Clouds Hill 10-28-02 After C.W Beaumont raises an army against the republic of LaGuardia, then headed by Jade Maxwell Norbert the Fourteenth, Dash and his entourage are forced to defend the city at all costs, only for the enemy to launch a completely unexpected tactic, that even surprised Beaumont; a head on attack. As minutemen and musketeers fired erupting bursts of gunpowder and steel shot across the field, multitudes of men on raptors with their sabers raised charged at each other, as Dash was caught in interlocking combat with enemy units. In an odd twist of fate, the seemingly invincible general of the wealthy republic falls victim of a random gunshot, as the lead particles rip a hole through his armor, the poor old man left for dead. Rescued by the most unlikely man of all, a man who abhors his existence, Argent, the colonel Frederik Poyle alerts them to escape at all costs as they head for the northerny fields, only to be stopped by the enemy. After Dash falls to the ground, Agron Flynn, who was bested in combat earlier by Dash, rushes to their rescue, as he dies purchasing much needed time for their audacious escape (read the story to find out!) He is buried sometime later at Clouds Hill. Total time 76 minutes Forest near Wingates Hill 10-27-02 A much travelled trade route between LaGuardia, and its capital near the summit, Kalin, Wingates hill, had once been a point of near war between troops of LaGuardia and Faiye, after Ludan Lockeheed and Kylin Rinehart split apart their respective kingdoms and went their separate ways. The forest itself has much notoriety among the locals, as they tend to stray from the forest, its dark receses inhabited by powerful creatures, and a thick shadowy mist that seems to envelope its thickly grown horizons in mystery. A pinnacle point in the story, where Dash saves Kimiahns life after an ambush attempt, he gains reputation as a fine swordsman there. Total time 67 minutes C.W Beaumont of Lancaster 10-23-02 In the heart of the imperial city of Dragonia, there once lie an academy where scholars could train on their discipline, and seek answers to mysteries of the past. Of course, training on such grounds, only those of noble heritage and family name could set foot upon these sacred grounds, which naturally arose much anger from a particular young squire, who went against the traditional ways of the academy. Expelled from his cushion on socity, young C.W Beaumont was disowned by his family and friends, as he struggled for find a place in society. And yet, he had acquired what he had so desired in his heart, like the canary, to fly with its wings outside the cage of status quo, and to pursue the adventure and mystique so much romanticised in ancient book volumes, which he spent much of his free time reading in the exalted Gainsforth Library. His young adult years spent politically persuading patrons of bars and libraries about the republic, the man whom the nobles had thought to have destroyed had risen an army of great magnitude within five years, and leading it against the republic, actually failed in disparity. But contrary to belief, instead of an ordered execution, the patient leader of the republic at the time, Wilhelm, admired his passionate qualities for his word, and instead of death, offered the man a position on his cabinet. And a decade later, Dragonia only grew larger, as the theocratic order of the Kai Nehr spread about the Lucca Archipelago, notably Albatross Total time 41 minutes As mentioned, here are two opposite characters in my novella, your typical Asceria Wizard, and a Allercus knight. knights from the Allercus Province, known for their swordsmanship. Anyway, you might notice that the wizard looks similar to Foxe; the Acolyte, and rightfully so. Save for the lack of wings and an unnoticeable tail, this wizard is very low leveled. Total time 24 minutes The three dragons of the theocracy. 10-23-02 In the region of albatross, there exists a theocratic regimacy by the name of Kai NeHr, which worships the three dragon gods, but places an outright ban on all forms of ancient machinery or Mechina. Although the empire, which is based in the capital city Dragonia, reaches out towards most residents, it is therefore very conservative in its beliefs. This picture just outlines two of the three dragons, and of course, a brief outline of a mounted warrior on a scaled dragon. Total time 31 minutes Foxe; the Acolyte 10-19-02 Another novella character pic, Foxe, was my first attempt at creating the true tailed Asceria creatures, who are like humans save for the fact they have tails and wolf-like ears, but I think this came out quite well. This scene is another basic character animation, showing Foxe casting a curative spell during the reaches of combat. Total time 31 minutes Valencios Stance 10-17-02 Ah, heres a pic of a character in my novella, a reptillian by the name of Valencio Garnette. Reptillians are lizard like creatures with a keen intellect and a long livelihood; which seem to be found about the region of Albatross. Velencio, however, is a tribal outcast of the dragonian sect, and joins Dashs party halfway through their quest. Total time 42 minutes An Idyllic View 10-16-02 This is a decent rendition of a scene out of my story, in which the character, Dash, sits perched atop the balcony of Kimiahn Serpentius courtyard, as he reflects on his past, and an impending future. This scene, which occurs during the end of Chapter Four, occurs before a major plot point in the story, in which Kimiahn reveals her occupation as an artifacer machine workers who are banned by the religious order of Kai NeHr. This, of course, is before the scene in which Dash falls for her charm. Total time 75 minutes The Republics Imperial Crest 10-13-02 If youre perceptive, you might notice this crest looks familiar to the british imperial crest from the late 16th century. Anyway, the design is a bit close to the actual crest im my story, except for the fact that this is only a crest of an Ancilliary nation within Albatross. Total time 31 minutes Soldier of the Faiye Republic 10-16-02 Heres a prospective drawing of your typical higher ranking soldier of Faiye Province, one of the main locations in my novella. Of course, hes more of a samurai than anything, but the province itself is renowned for its excellent swordsmen, and their skills are sought all throughout the region of Albatross. Total time 22 minutes Castle Scene; LaGuardia Province 10-14-02 This is a small rendition of my novella at work, and quite possibly, one of my favourite scenes to date. This rendition depicts two villagers of the Laguardia province, on a well-to-do gentleman, and the other a peasant lady, as they commerce over recent events. The lady, a character by the name of Kimiahn plays a significant role in my story (shes our hero, Dashs guide to Laguardia), but the other figure remains anonymous, most possibly a tax collector for the imperial regime. Total time 76 minutes 55746 9-26-02 This is a rendition of a picture I found out of a National Geographic magazine, and consequently, an article named 55746. Anyway, the scene portrays several kids chilling out in their domicile, and you could probably guess the rest. There were several slight modifications, such as the poster, computer keyboard, shelf, etc. Total time 63 minutes Mantis, War plans 10-11-02 This prospective drawing is actually based on one ofthe ships in an earlier part of my novella, but had little to do with my castle section. As the story goes, the evil communist regime of Kasketua, controls a fleet of purely destructive weapons, called Mantises, which can take off from the ground on a whim and support a VTOL function Vertical takeoff and landing. On land, they convert into sinister looking mantis machines, which, combined with their amazing agility and gyroscopic features, are unmatched on the field. Total Time 34 minutes Ambush at Mingard Field 9-30-02 Heres another freehand drawing I drew about revolving around an unsuspecting hunter, and his prey, ready to strike out at him from the brush. This scene is actually based on a short story from my writings, so once I get that released, Ill include a link. Total time 44 minutes Character Animations: Wolf and Soldier 9-22-02 Heres a basic character animations drawing of two random characters from my online novella, which will hopefully be completed sometime soon. Total time 23 minutes Floating City; the emerald palace 9-23-02 This is one of my favorites, drawn a few weeks ago, that portrays a scene in which a weary traveller emerges from a city street, after a visit to the fabled emerald palace. Total time 73 minutes Cadets out of uniform 9-12-02 This scene depicts the hero of my novella, Dash Dracon, and his two acquaintences, Osprey and Kariss, as they pose for a scene. Kariss, as you can see, isnt the kind of lady you would want to mess with, and Osprey, of course, is a character based on myself, who happens to be the main characters brother. The only difference? Osprey is the offspring of a man named Cain Amaroth, who courted Dashs mother and killed both his parents afterward for political reasons. Total time 52 minutes Sineothesaurus Millennii 9-10-02 Yeah, the name says it all, doesnt it? Actually, this picture is based on a National Geographic article as well, that dealt with winged bird like dinosaurs. No, theyre not pterodactyls, but then again, theyre not very reptilian either. Whatever. Anyway, this was a very quick sketch, which should seem obviously apparent. Total time 20 minutes Other links of interest... |
