I don't think I ahve any plans for the weekend, but my house isn't really
setup for gatherings anymore. :( (Damn store taking up the basement!)
Perhaps Adrian is willing to host?

Crossposting this for Gino...I dunno how often he reads LUGNET, so if you can
help him out, it might be best to email him. Adrian, Troy, Ken, and I already
have full cars and rooms.
Good luck, Gino.

A little late, but I like it too.
BTW, I notice a few of the Clevelander's are registered for BrickFest. Would
anyone be interested in carpooling and/or sharing a room? I'd like to attend,
but I don't think I can budget it without sharing some of the expenses.

If you get it to me too when final (with a URL to point to), I can get it up
on the B.I. Portal, if you like.

I've got DSL. Apk.net is my ISP, SBC is the provider. 768/128
download/upload. I'm very happy with the service, and I very infrequently
have downtime. $50 a month.
The only downside to Cable is that you're sharing bandwidth with everyone
else on your street who also has cable, but according to Troy, it may not be
an issue. If your family doesn't have cable at the moment, DSL may be your
only option. Honestly though, either way you go, you'll have more bandwidth
than you need.

We use Adelphia Cable here. If it's available in your area, I recommend it.
Upload is only about 128k, but download is incredibly fast. I average
around 2.5Mbit and have seen it go up as high as 4Mbit. And I usually leave
it downloading 24/7.

Hey all,
I want to convice my mom to buy cable or DSL since I'm going to be living at
home for a year. What ISP do you use to connect to the internet? How much do
you pay? What download/upload speeds do you get? Are you happy with the
service?

It looks like no one is interested for this Sunday. I guess I'll try again
in a couple weeks...

No worries, nothing disastrous, just a loss of free time. Unfortunately, I
don't have another free weekend until June at the earliest, so I don't know
when i'll be able to reschedule.
Perhaps my taste for Brikwars is waning. Hrm.

I'm sorry to hear that. If you need nay help with anything, give us a call.
If there is still interest in destruction, I could host this Sunday. Is
anyone else interested in playing?

Hrm, I have some potential bad news here. I'm not sure I'm going to be able
to do any Brikwarsin' on Sunday. There's the potential for a gathering
Saturday just to say howdy howdy howdy and maybe build something, but some
other things have come up that may preclude me from hosting a Brikwars battle.

Sounds cool. I will probably be free around 5:00ish on Saturday. I'm
thinking about doing a building or two in the meantime. I'll let you know what
I come up with.
What do you think of my invading-a-medieval-town scenario?

(followups trimmed per Lar's nagging)
I'll open it up for the whole weekend, then. Saturday can be a build-fest
(such that Bram can get involved) wherein we can put together whatever
buildings and terrain we may want, and Sunday can be Brikwarsin' fun. As
for the plot, we could always wait until the NELUG people settle on what
they're going to do and usurp their ideas :) But that would involve
bringing supernatural elements into the game, which I may not quite be ready
for :)

That weekend would be great for me. However, it is a lot easier for me to do
Sunday than Saturday. I can probably be free Saturday evening, if you want to
get started or do prep.

I can field at least two TL2 armies in the 100 CP or so range. I can
probably muster a third even. We could also consider a strange army. Wizards,
ghosts, skeletons,...

Let's try someting weird. A storyline in advance. I was thinking that a
town setting would be fun. It should be easy for anyone who wants to
contribute some medieval buildings. Sort of like how we built Drakeville.
Then we can have some NPC's. Or someone can play town folk. That leaves a
local lord's force, an invading lord and one or more allies of each. The ninja
can be hired guns for the invader. We need to nail a number players for this
to be fleshed out. We could also have a small keep in the town. The keep
defenders and city defenders could be seperate armies, if we want.

Since we're probably going to play at Adrian's place, he has the final say.
But, we've often had spectators. For that matter, we often have first-timers.
The rules are readily available at http://www.brikwars.com/.
If you have experience at any wargames, you'll probably do fine. The rules
are akin to WarHammer. So if you have experience with that, it should be
particularly easy.
On a related note, I am thinking about holding a BrikWars game for NOWS.
They are a wargaming club based near Hopkins. Would any BW veterans be
interested in helping?

Would you guys be up for an observer? I have never played BW but I am a gamer,
and I have been working on rules for a lego wargame in the "Micro Fig" scale
rather than the Mini Fig scale. I am a Cleveland native living in Kent for the
last ten years.
