X-Pod Play Off

Version 1.1 (Available after 7/6/04)

Documented Errors

In reading the rules and playing this great game, I found a number of errors and typos in the game materials. This web page documents those errors. All errors on this web site have been reported to the supervisor for the X-Pod product line, who passes them up the chain. Several errors have already been corrected, and hopefully all will be fixed soon.

LEGO’s X-Pod Play Off web site has been periodically updated to correct errors, but in case someone has an earlier version of the game, I will leave the old corrections page up here.

Please email me if you find additional mistakes!

A chronological listing of updates may be found here.

And now, on to the errors:

Web Site Errors

Units Catalog -> Auto Pod

TYPO:
Hover Truck level 1 instructions list one piece of part #6, but should list two pieces of #6.

TYPO:
Hover Sport level 1 instructions list one piece of part #6, but should list two pieces of #6.

Advanced Play -> Advanced X-tra Cards -> Screen 4
(also page 4 and 6 of the Advanced Game Rules pdf)

REPEATED MATERIAL:
The “Carry” X-tras card is already available in the Wild Pod starter set, and need not be repeated in the advanced rules.

Advanced Play -> Advanced Strategy Guide -> Screen 4 (Robopod)
(Also page 9 of the Advanced Strategy Guide pdf file.)

ERROR:
Robopod Advanced Set #3 lists the three Starting units and eight Other units, but it is against the rules to have more than 10 total plan cards per game.
Suggested solution (Unofficial) : Eliminate one of the Green Droids.

Units Catalogs

OMISSION:
All other documents for this game can be downloaded as pdf files, but the complete unit catalogs are only available to print. On my system, at least, this has been problematic, as sometimes they do not print correctly, and there is not an easy way to reprint page 4 of 8, for example.

Manual Errors

Autopod Starter Set
Not exactly an ERROR:
Page 4 and 5: Starting Option #3 lists Rollabout, Rollabout, Basher; but the third starting option in step 3 of the setup on page 1 lists Rollabout, Pushabout, Basher. Either way is fine, but probably the latter is preferred.

Wild Pod Starter Set
ERROR:
Page 6: The inventory sheet lists 6 pieces of part #14, but only 4 pieces are included in the set.
Note: This page originally showed only 4 pieces, but was incorrectly changed to 6, then changed back to 4, and then changed back to 6. Either I’m confused, or LEGO is. The official inventory of this set definitely shows 4, according to peeron and bricklink:
http://www.peeron.com/cgi-bin/invcgis/inv/sets/4349-1?withpics=yes
http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemInv.asp?S=4349-1

ERROR:
Page 6: The inventory sheet lists 4 pieces of part #15, but only 3 pieces are included in the set.
See above.

Advanced Game Rules - Printed Version

TYPO:
Page 2: The description for “Picking X-tras reads: “The full set of X-tras can be found in the Advanced rules download.”
This should probably read, “The four additional advanced X-tras cards can be found on page 6 of this document.”

TYPO:
Page 5: The heading for the page is “Designing Unit Sets,” but should read “Designing Arenas.”

Additional FAQs

Q: Do the colors of the pieces matter, as long as the part numbers are correct?
A: No. Any color piece may be used to build the plan, as long as it is the correct part.

Q: My pod contains extra pieces of part #36 (and #40). Can I use them in the game?
A: No. Since these parts are so small, the company includes extras in case you lose one, but they shouldn’t be used in the game. Only use as many pieces as fit on your inventory sheet.

Q: In the Basic game, can I use any of the X-tras cards, or should I only use the cards that were in my pod’s starter kit?
A: Only use the X-tras cards that came with your pod’s starter kit.

Q: The Advanced Rules download only lists one each of the four additional X-tras cards. Are there only one of each allowed per game, or should the page be printed multiple times, and if so, how many times?
A: (pending)

Q: In the Advanced game, players may choose from the entire range of X-tras cards. Which player chooses first? What if both players want three of the same card, but there’s only 3 cards total?
A: (pending)
