Hello all,
Ive build a vignette which Im able to wear as a badge during events. It
combines two of the three themes that kind of signify me within the LEGO
community: trains and the Clikits trademark girls.
Attached at the back is a black LEGO refrigirator-magnet brick. With the aid of
3 non-LEGO super-strong mini magnets, I can wear the contraption without doing
harm to the fabric of my shirt.
Here you see one of the mini magnets clinging to the LEGO refrigirator
magnet-brick, and the other two lay in front. In fact, these magnets are so
strong that I could not move them any closer to the model. If I did, they would
simply fly up and slam agains the LEGO refrigirator-magnet brick.
Because of the large track part, it would classify as a double vig according
to the Size Chart for Vignettes. Ive chosen to use this part instead of
simulating a (smaller) piece of track, because of its strongness and instant
recogniseablility.
With friendly greetings, M. Moolhuysen.

Yet another nice update!
By now, you may have noticed that Clikits trademark/icon figures Daisy, Heart
and Star are restyled each year, recieving new clothes to wear, a different
hairdo, accessories and so on. This time Ive added images of the girls in their
standard-outfit for year 2005, in this fashion each of them also appeared as a
sculptured key ring figurine in the Jewels-n-More-sets
7533, 7534 and 7535
This year also the girls had a makeover, these are their standard-outfits for
year 2006:
Finally, I kindly thank the Lugnet member that took the effort to highlight my
previous update message.
With friendly greetings, M. Moolhuysen.

Its update time!
Ive processed 3 new images featuring the Clickits trademark/icon figures,
showing Daisy, Heart or Star in sparkling dance-party outfits, as they appear
(as some sort of reward, I guess) after you guided each respective character
through the mall-maze game.
After moderation, the rest of my Clickits girls image collection may be viewed

Not meaning to be an ad or anything but, I think it's worth mentioning that
eight Clikits sets are big-time marked down at lego.com. One has the "X"
element, which is a personal fav of mine, and the green leaves which are hard to
come by. That's set 10117 (half price, $2.50)

If you realy want those images, and are prepared to put some effort into it,
you could grab the individual tiles, and seem these together with MS-paint
or a more sophisticated bitmap editing program.
I did something similar grabbing pictures of the Clikits trademark girls in
their new 2004 outfits from http://www.clikits.com/creative/cnp.asp Because
the most zoomed out pictures where too large to fit on any of the stationary
templates, I had to capture them in parts, and like a magician after sawing them
in half, had to reassemble the poor girls.
Just in case you think: What is he talking about, the results are here:

Ive made a time comparison picture for one of the Clikits trademark girls,
Heart. Left is her original version drawn in 2003, right as she emerged 2004 in
a new outfit. Its funny too see that the figurine has kept exactly the same
relaxed and dreamy pose, but otherwise there has been a distinct makeover. She
seems to have shed some of that carefree innocence:
Amazing how fast these girls grow up :-)
Could it be that the real users of Clikits turned out to be a older agegroup
than TLC originally targeded? Maybe theyve decided to age the trademark images
accordingly. The other two figures, Daisy and Star, have shown some evolution
also, but Heart is the most evident example.

Hey, great sleuthing, Manfred. The one just before that in her portfolio is
related to Designer/Creator sets so I've copied .build. I set the FUT to
.mediawatch because maybe she's going to be an up and coming influence on
industrial design? Some of her other work is spiffy too.

And here they are, with new hairstyles and new clothes:
Is it just me, or have they grown up a bit in the past year? :-) See

Hello all,
Here is a pair of images Ive trimmed or composed featuring the three Clickits
trademark/icon figures:
Just like most of their target audence there desparatly trying to look more
grown-up than they realy are :-)
I actualy do like the drawings of these girls. They remind me very much of a
graphic style that was popular in the days when I was a small kid (late 60s). I
recall one of the walls of my boys room had stickers of skinny (like Twiggy) and
disproportionally elongated images of teenagers. They were holding instruments
and where posed as if they where playing in Rock&Roll band. These teenage
figures were drawn in almoste the same style as the Clikits girls, and were
colored just as brightly.
To annoy my fellow workers, Ive put both pictures on my computer as background
images (I have a dual monitor setup). Ive kept the images limited in size, with
a white background, so you can use them centered against any background color.
The standing group is cliped from a wallpaper found here:
http://www.clikits.com/clikitsgirl/freestuff.asp (the lower left one) I wanted
to loose the product samples included on this wallpaper, so I trimmed the image
and cleaned up the remaining beads.
The slumber group is composed with extracts of three differend additional set
images found on http://shop.lego.com/ Ive used the ones from sets #7507,
#7508 and #7509.
With friendly greetings, M. Moolhuysen.

I haven't actually opened my Toy Fair preview pack (doesn't appear to be an
actual retail set), but just looking through the clamshell packaging, there are
multiple "female" pieces. The one you mentioned is the one designed to allow
compatability with System bricks, another type is matched to the primary pieces
and has a groove to accomodate the necklace/bracelet cords, and a third is the
plate style that's designed for, well, things that need plates of some sort
(like the picture frames, I guess).

Since the flowers are largely restricted to the orange and pink colors, the
orange converters aren't as useless as you suggest. I don't see them being used
expansively as floral decorations, as they're a bit on the cartoonish side, but
the point is that they _can_ be used for floral landscaping, if you're so
inclined.

That girls wouldn't be as interested in System compatibility. History
and/or marketing research has shown them that regardless of all attempts to make
girl-friendly System sets, the core audience is still heavily skewed towards
males. Still, it would have been nice if the standard Clikits bases were sized
to attach to anything that will accept a basic stud (I recall reading that they
aren't), just to increase their compatibility.

The primary purpose of Clikits is not to be used directly with System
bricks, but to make jewelry, picture frames, tote bags, and such. It's a good
deal if that's what you're looking to buy. It's a mediocre deal if you're
looking to plant a garden around one of your MOCs. In Mark's defense, I believe
he was suggesting that some people might be interested in using them to
supplement the existing limited floral selection, not that they'd be looking to
use these to supplant the traditional LEGO tri-stalk flower. They're all still
transparent flowers, which will probably be more of a turn-off than the fact
that they'd be expensive sources for flowers. Right now I count a grand total
of 24 System conversion Clikits on Bricklink, all Used, all sold for $0.20 from
the same store (well, at least you can save on S&H, but you'd still be $5.20
short of the minimum order...), and with colors including the three Clikits
primary shades and clear.

Hey:
The serious compatibility problem Clikits elements have in relation to regular
lego bricks and plates has largely already been explained here:
http://www.landofbricks.com/clikits.html
What was not emphasized enough was the extreme importance of the element
described by Mark as a clickee, but that I would probably call a female
snap. See the female snap below and here:
http://www.landofbricks.com/sets/clikits/3.jpg
The female snap allows one to join regular lego studs with unique Clikits
elements such as these: http://www.landofbricks.com/sets/clikits/7.jpg
The above is sort of the male snap as it snaps into its female counterpart.
Trippetta bought a set of Clikets (#7508) and I immediately recognized that the
set did not come with many of the female snap elements -- frankly, only four of
them, and two of them were of the less useful trans-orange color. It did come
with two in trans-clear, which are obviously more useful because they are color
neutral. TWO!!! Of the many Clikits elements that could be used in conjunction
with regular lego ONLY VIA THE FEMALE SNAP ELEMENT one would only have access to
as few as 4 with this set even though many more male snaps were included.
Thats just crazy in terms of marketing, in my view. What were they thinking?
Mark commented elsewhere that these Clikits sets might be a good source of
flowers for builders, but I think not. Unless some other Clikits set has a
plethora of the clear female snap elements these sets are not going to be very
useful to traditional lego builders at all. One way to correct this problem
might be for S@H to offer up an accessory bag of clear, or possibly other
neutral colored, female snap elements -- that might make a big difference to
builders. If there were greater access to the female snap, I would actually
suggest that the set was a good deal -- but as it stands, its not a very good
deal at all.

The Clikits brick was out today - despite much confusion within the LLCA staff I
got my hands on it. The clubhouse did not have them, I was told they would not
get in before the 10th. And after about 10 minutes of guest service trying to
figure out what was gong on (and insisting the clubhouse had them) they came up
with the bick. The brick was worth the trouble - its so good to have a Duplo
Promo brick in a new color!
And here it is (click for larger view):

Two of the new Clikit sets were noted to be in stock at my local Walmart (north
Florida) today.
<set:7510> Trendy Totes Pink (the guide says Hot Pink, but I think the box said
'Pink')
<set:7511> Trendy Totes Tangerine
both were priced at $15 less a few ("we sell for less") WM pennies.
