Ah, memories.  I had this castle back when it first came out, just
before or at the same time 6085 was released, and in fact still have
the instructions though most of the bricks and all the men are long
gone.  The quality of the bricks including (especially) the men and
horses is woefully bad.  The articulated horses and the ugly men
wouldn't take much posing before their joints would just give up.
Think built-in arrow-holes for the archers for the brick tolerances
:-p.  Still, my sense of design as a young builder was developed
enough that I used the instructions and swapped out as much as I could
for genuine LEGO bricks and was pretty happy with the results and
displayed it right next to my 6085 and 6081 without much
discrimination.  OTOH you have to remember that this castle was in
circulation in the mid-to-late 80s, so it wouldn't have compared as
favorably due to the quality issue as it does now to real LEGO kits
(how sad that this cheap little clone blows away today's flagship LEGO
castle, King Leo's house of POOP, in terms of design).  And, back in
the 80s, you're right, this was almost a direct copy of the 6080, so
even back then, I had a prejudice against this castle just because it
wasn't real LEGO.  I remember actually throwing away the men and
horses almost immediately after building the castle.  The windows/wall
SPUDs are 4x 4 rectangles, rather than the castle wall we are familiar
with, and I often see them in eBay castle lots advertised as LEGO.
Thanks for the trip down memory lane...

Hi,

Not sure where to put this message, but all of us castle fans • probably came
across 6080 King's Castle before.

Well check out this auction of a clone brand on eBay!

I feel violated.  :)
