If you agree, I say donate as I just did to help keep it around.

I sure do and just did.
Good post, Hendo!

Hi John & John,
thank you very much for the donation, Ive received two more the same day but
dont know whether the donors would like being identified in public.
In case that some of you wonder: LUGNET received around net Euro 2400 over the
last 12 months and costs were net Euro 2150 only. So LUGNET is financially
secure, at least to keep it as it is.
In a few days I will have a new feature for LUGNET, and I hope it will be useful
for some of us. And no, its NOT image hosting ;-)
Thanks again,
Rene

The hardware has been set up and running in a powered rack on an active
Internet connection; the software is 98% installed and we had most of it
running at one point, but never got the last 2% to make the switch to the
new OS. One of the boxes mirrors the live content of the current server.
The units are 1U I think and I believe they contain their own power
supplies, although Matthew would know for sure. They just need rack space
at the wherever the new location will be.

Todd would be the one to answer this properly. I believe the hardware is set up,
but not in use at present. I know the domain issue got resolved. For the
switchover, we had yet to make arrangements with Rene about sending the hardware
to Germany because there was debate about whether or not it made sense to do so,
considering that the equipment would need new power supplies and they'd be heavy
to ship. We thought it might make more sense to sell the hardware here and use
the money for new equipment over there. Regardless, the community's investment
is safe in that the added power, storage, development-area, and such will be
active when the new management takes over. But again, Todd can answer this
better than I.

Then I would like some clarification from someone who knows, so I X-posted to
.finance. Have they or haven't they?

For those that may not be aware or have forgotten, Lugnet has formed
partnerships with a long list of online websites. These Affiliates pay
Lugnet when you enter their shops through the Lugnet Affiliate links and
make a purchase.
To make it easier to find these Affiliate links, they have been added to the
main Marketplace page http://news.lugnet.com/market/
and also the bottom of the .Market.Shopping page.
Also, be sure to bookmark the Affiliate links listing:

OK.. 7 months later I just tried to click on the link for eToys. It says that
the target site is no longer a member of Commision Junction. Perhaps these links
(at least that one) need to be reviewed for currency ?
thx, Ray
