Hmmm. Are you saying that the new servers that we community-fundraised for
two years ago:

have never been brought into service?

Kevin

As far as I know (back when the Admins resigned) the servers were waiting for
something or another to happen.  Some problem with the domain name or whatever.
But no, the servers have not been brought into service.  (Again, as far as I
know, I might very well be wrong about that).

Then I would like some clarification from someone who knows, so I X-posted to
.finance.  Have they or haven't they?

Todd would be the one to answer this properly. I believe the hardware is set up,
but not in use at present. I know the domain issue got resolved. For the
switchover, we had yet to make arrangements with Rene about sending the hardware
to Germany because there was debate about whether or not it made sense to do so,
considering that the equipment would need new power supplies and they'd be heavy
to ship. We thought it might make more sense to sell the hardware here and use
the money for new equipment over there. Regardless, the community's investment
is safe in that the added power, storage, development-area, and such will be
active when the new management takes over. But again, Todd can answer this
better than I.
