A-class locomotive

Here is the third in my line of Australian locomotives. The A-class are mainly used for regional passenger services around Victoria, but they also pull freight. They were re-built from the original B-class locos in the 1960s.

This MOC was made possible by the release of the Santa Fe Super Chief, and is mostly built from the parts of two of those sets. The main difference being the addition of the latest model RoscoDiesel(tm). I also took a few liberties with the details.

I originally tried it just with the Super Chief base & 2 noses, but it just looked way too short. It still looks short now, and it’s 2 studs longer! I decided to keep the red base, and just add 1x6 plates each end between it & the noses. As a result, I was unable to use the non-powered bogie, so it runs with 2 powered ones.

But without further ado, here’s some pictures.

Here’s a photo from RailPage. This is a great Aussie rail enthusiast site. Well worth a visit.
