Brickbury Herald 1st August 2002 Late Edition

The party just goes on and on. After yesterdays day of recovery, life is back to normal in Brickbury with a champagne and king prawn thai style breakfast to celebrate the opening of the first of the towns apartment blocks. Calder Place, designed entirely ‘whilst sitting on the toilet’ by local lad James Putnam is the first of the buildings in the residential district.

Like the rest of the town the residential district will be ‘quite stylized and well landscaped’. When asked what stlyized ment Mayor Autissier, whilst waving an empty wine glass, said ‘I don’t care, as long as the buildings are liked by everyone.’

The lucky residents of Calder Place continued the festive spirit by hosting a pop the bubblewrap party. A good time was had by one and all.

In other news Brickburys first wedding happened in the early hours of yesterday morning. The lucky couple, Andrew Grier and Alia Darcy, who only met a few hours before the ceremony are said to be looking forward to getting to know each other. Actress Alia Darcy, perhaps Brickburys most famous resident, released a statement saying ‘Andrew and I are very happy together, I would like to thank you all for how wonderful you have made me feel since I moved here’. Being a modern couple Andrew is taking on Alia’s family name of Darcy, there is believed to be no prenuptual agreement.

Here at the Herald we think that they should have gotton to know each other a little bit before the ceremony, but wish them lots of luck.

Robin yesterday spoke the wise words of ‘divorced, beheaded, died, divorced, beheaded, survived’ to stop all of the calls to the herald office, yes this is the fate of Henry VIII (of England)’s wives. This question and answer theme has proved to be popular however so here is todays poser:

What is the next line of this old favourite? The red car and the blue car had a race. But all that red could do was stuff his face. He eats everything he sees, from truck to prickly trees...

Answers on a postcard (preferably a nice beach scene) to the Herald office. The first out of the hat gets to lay the foundation stone of Dinah’s Diner.
