With the advent of the new "Yoda" brown, a decent color finally exists to model
the 2 cars Thomas the Tank Engine always pulls: Annie and Claribel.

After scouring Bricklink for dozens of necessary 1x1s and the like (thanks,
guys!), I present a completed consist of Thomas, Annie, and Claribel:

I also built some nice troublesome trucks as well.  Now I need to get going on
creating some number and face stickers!

Yeah, Russ, but aren't those built out of brown?  I waited until I could secure
enough Yoda brown (which is almost dead-on correct for color matching them) to
build mine.  As far as I know, the 1x1, 1x6, and 1x8 burnt orange brick didn't
even come out until the recently released Privet Drive set.  So start pounding
the Bricklink pavement-- it took me four stores to get enough 1x1s (40 total).
Mine are still pretty rudimentary and not very close to the originals in terms
of detail; I was relying on the *color* to carry them:-)

BTW, I was talking to Mike Walsh and he expressed that he has *his* Annie and
Claribel in the wings and was just about ready to show them off-- sorry to
steal anyone's thunder! >;-D

Yup, they are brown. I built them as a last minute thing for our GATS show. I
just used what was available at the time. I had enough kids at the show
recognize them to make it worth just keeping them the way they are. For me its
just the satisfaction of building them and having them recognizable. And mine
have faces!  :)

I also think Melody from Australia was planning on building them as well.

You know, the actual faces on Annie and Claribel are pretty simplistic-- just
black marks for their faces and nothing more (no relief as for Thomas). I was
going to create some detailed ones and print them out on clear stickers.  I'll
have to post the artwork when I finish them.

Cool-- I look forward to seeing them!  Well, it seems to me that 1) *every* LTC
should have a Thomas, and 2) every Thomas needs an Annie and Claribel....

Some time ago I posited a rule of thumb... "Every show layout needs a
Thomas"... I'm wondering if it's time to extend it? :-)

What I actually said was "I have a pile of Yoda rust colored bricks on my
table waiting to be made into Annie and Clarabel".  ;-)

I too have been buying them up on BrickLink for the purposes of making
companions for my TTE
(http://www.carolinatrainbuilders.com/models/ctb-3105/index.htm).  Like many
things though - they are on my perpetual to-do list.  I do expect to get to
them in the next few weeks though.
