Naming your pages

Page names (locations) can be short and simple, for example:

   http://www.lugnet.com/~1234/

or long and complex, for example:

   http://www.lugnet.com/org/us/nelug/~1234/meeting/2000-05-25

But how do you know what is OK and what is not OK? Here is the general “syntax” for LUGNET Member page URLs -- all LUGNET Member pages will look like this in one way or another:

   http://www.lugnet.com/xxx/~id/yyy/zzz

where:

id is your LUGNET Member ID#
xxx is an existing LUGNET web/news category (optional)
yyy is a subdirectory you define (optional)
zzz is the page name you define (optional)

Characters allowed in page and directory names

Lowercase letters a-z
Uppercase letters A-Z
Numeric digits 0-9
Hyphen -
Underscore _
Tilde ~ (only as member id prefix)
Forward-slash / (only as directory separator)
