Mark Cogan

Favorite LEGO toys/themes: Technic.

My fascination with LEGO began... Earlier than I can remember.

I once built... A big, crazy tower. I loved it. Except, I had used some of my sister's lego to make it. So while I was asleep, she took it apart and rebuilt it without her pieces. Bummer, but I could hardly fault her -- I knew I shouldn't have been using her pieces. (my parents had actually gone so far as to evenly divide our communal Lego between us, and to paint a colored dot on each piece to identify who it belonged to)

LEGO is great because... It just is. If it isn't obvious, I don't think it can be explained.

LEGO fans are great because... They play.

My favorite Hobbies & Interests: Role-playing games, wargames, martial arts.

My favorite Foods: Food is overrated.

My favorite Movies & TV: Good movies. No TV.

My favorite Artists: Escher; Matisse; Wayne Barlowe.

My favorite Music: Everything except Country (or Western).

My favorite Pets & Animals: Pets are overrated, but animals in general are very cool.

Words which best describe me: Easygoing. Abstracted. Inquisitive.

I love it when... I understand how something -- for example, a mechanical aspect of a Lego model -- works.

I hate it when... I anticipate some feature working in a much more complex and intersting way than it turns out to. I also hate it when people say "Legos".

I can't seem to get enough... Time to build things.

I always seem to have enough... Things that need to be done (or paid) when I could be building (or buying) Lego.

In my craziest moments... I contemplate blowing a paycheck on Lego. But my landlord, creditors, and family probably wouldn't appreciate that.

More & Less:
  • more innovation, less replication
  • more emergent complexity, less confusion
  • more freethought, less superstition

Rules I try to live by:
  1. You know what's right. Do that.
  2. Question everything.
  3. Be nice.
