Calum Tsang
("tsangc")

Favorite LEGO toys/themes: Train, Town, Boats, and Technic/Mindstorms.

My fascination with LEGO began... with a 928 Galaxy Explorer at a young age.

I once built... a 3x3' catarmaran aircraft carrier. It used four 48x48 dot baseplates for the deck and for a hull, used Lego plastic trays from the old space sets.

Someday I will build... a proper Town, a C17 Globemaster transport, that catamaran container ship, a shark shaped cargo submarine, a DCC train layout. Right...

LEGO is great because... it allows us to build large or complex things at a small manageable scale.

LEGO fans are great because... there is little distinction or politics between them, apart from what theme they like or whether they sort. (Train, not really)

My favorite Non-LEGO Toys: There are non Lego toys?

My favorite Hobbies & Interests: television production, event organization, systems engineering and technology management.

My favorite Movies & TV: The Secret Life of Machines, The West Wing, the Amazing Race, Scrapheap Challenge

My favorite Music: Dave Matthews Band, the Box, Steely Dan, Lillix

My favorite Pets & Animals: None

I love it when... everything works.

I hate it when... everything falls apart.

I can't seem to get enough... time to build Lego, or do anything else for that matter.

I always seem to have enough... pieces to create a suitable mess in the living room.

I hope I always... do the right thing.

I wish I could... build in the European, 80's to early 90's Town/Train style that Lego and others build in so well. Maybe I just wish I could be as cool as James Mathis or those German train club guys.

I could never... really understand how to construct/design complex robotic systems, especially those intricate mechanisms. I can only kludge systems together.

I hope I never... run into a situation which requires me to divest my Lego!

In my craziest moments... I've slept on the floor of our research lab and built Best Lock sets at work. I've built a Lego train across my cubicle too.

Believe it or not... I know the words to Copacabana. Why, I don't know.

More & Less:
  • more Detailed sets for Town at the level of the Star Wars line, less Town Jr. and unusual niche themes (Belville, Scala, Disney)
  • more Detailed piece granularity, less All in one blocks (ie, Town Jr. car chassis)

Rules I try to live by:
  1. Kick ass and take names
  2. Be more like Chris Magno
