Aaron West
("Blacktron...")

Favorite LEGO toys/themes: LEGO themes are so much more fluid now than they were in the past, but I do lean toward fantasy that has a root in the past and magic. For modern times I prefer to represent life As I See It. Other than that I really like science fiction related themes. And remember, "The higher, the fewer!"

My fascination with LEGO began... 1979 with 483 Alpha-1 Rocket Base. It is the first set I remember outside of Duplo that I built space cities with, from there it exploded...

I once built... The entire line and universe of Thundercats characters, weaponry, transports and bases. Even Mum-Rah's temple. That's when I realized that LEGO was the best toy ever conceived.

Someday I will build... Heck, when the bug bites, I build it. Passions are Sci-fi, Fantasy and Military. I like to pick a special piece and see what creation evolves around it.

LEGO is great because... Everything works together and the possibilities are infinite! And mini-figs are just so cute!

LEGO fans are great because... They are generally honest, creative and fun-loving people. Also a little crazy...

My favorite Non-LEGO Toys: G.I. Joe vs COBRA, any and all. I like Playmobil for it's Magic, Pirate and Castle themes. Occasionally, I buy other brick brands as the mood strikes. I am evil, yesno?

My favorite Hobbies & Interests: Umm, LEGO. Certain action figures, some custom work and model work. Swimming, Racing (F1!!), Skiing, Running, Reading, Writing, Movie-watching, music, theater, gameing, kid-parent stuff.

My favorite Foods: Any. Most. Heck, I'll eat anything that I don't have to kill (or kills me).

My favorite Movies & TV: Classic literature series stuff like on A&E, Horatio Hornblower, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's Lost World , X-Men, Star Wars & Star Trek, The A-Team, Excalibur, Monty Python, horror and classic Sci-fi, some horror, Raiders of the Lost Ark and, yes, Conan the Barbarian. Lord Of the Rings, Harry Potter, Merlin, MIB 1 and 2, Gladiator, Shrek, Independance Day, X-Files are among my more recent favorites. Stargate SG-1 and the Stargate.

My favorite Artists: Alec , Loren, Ellia & Bridget (kids), a wide range of professional art appeals to me, author JRR Tolkien

My favorite Music: Tchaikovsky, Bach, Napoleanic era music, most Classical, anything in the Heroes Of Might and Magic or Might and Magic games from 3DO/New World Computing, Yngwie J. Malmsteen, RUSH, Tool, Van Halen, Joe Satriani, Judas Priest, Rob Halford, Pink Floyd, Zombie and a variety of others in rock, orchestral, instrumental or vocal. NOT Rap, I just don't get it.

My favorite Pets & Animals: Dogs, most. I am a dog person though I have recently aquired cat(s). Got me a bird too.

Words which best describe me: Killer vampire rabbit, SPAM substitute, Rabbit Meat and a variety of other adjectives...

I love it when... I have all the right parts in all the right colors.

I hate it when... I don't have all the right parts in all the right colors.

I can't seem to get enough... Castles and Castle accessories. Somebody at LEGO better release mini-figure Castle sets with some thematic variety and Castle mini-figure accessory sets with good variety. Or I will have to take over the world. (It seems that LEGO has fulfilled one of my demands.)

I always seem to have enough... Orange flames, I have a lot of orange flames. Really.

I hope I always... Can find GOOD LEGO sets at LOW(ish) prices.

I wish I could... Accomplish all the tasks I have set in my mind as I see them. Time, money and inspiration are the greatest challenges.

I could never... I could never have too much LEGO. I could never have enough storage/sorting bins, either.

I hope I never... Run out of room for expanding projects.

I wish I hadn't... I wish I hadn't missed so many sets from the late 1980's to the early 1990's. Particularlly Castle and Pirate theme. You can never have enough Castle & Pirate themed accessories and parts.

In my craziest moments... I try to take over the world.

Believe it or not... I was one of the 27 Master Builder Finalists on 1-22-04 at LEGOLAND, CA. No Bob, I didn't get the job. Drat and double drat!

If I were super-human... I would have telekinesis and telepathy. And super intelligence. Of course, the power to fly, super agility , super speed and invulnerability go without saying. Maybe a Power Ring too! And a really neat suit with a cape! Okay, so maybe the cape was a little much...

More & Less:
  • more Unity, less Hatred
  • more Lego Castle and Pirate themes., less Jack Stone and Town Jr.
  • more Time to write., less Bad network TV.

Rules I try to live by:
  1. Family comes first.
  2. Act with purpose and honor.
  3. Think with wisdom and courage.

Additional comments:

Working hard(er) on getting a fictional novel completed. Always writting short stories and ideas in my journals. The "big" project has been a long time in development, and is as real to me in my head as many people feel about their favorite movies & books. I strongly believe that people strengthen who they want to be in their world of fantasy within their head. Story craft is such a meditation for me. LEGO has done nothing but enhance and unlock some of those elements for me.
