Nail

Designed as a cheap and efficient craft to counter the lightweight Z-95 headhunter and Scyk Light Fighter. The Nail is a light fighter, suitable for inexperienced pilots. It is, however, only lightly shielded and armored, and it only has two laser guns. Well, I suppose that’s the disadvantage of all the light starter-craft, anyway.

I wanted to make the Nail as simple as possible, and still give it that aerodynamic look. Not that aerodynamics matter a lot in space. It turned out a bit “fatter” then I had hoped, but the low number of parts it took made up for it.

Note I really wanted to take a good picture of this craft using L3P(AO) and POV-Ray, but whenever I try to render pics of models that include colors I added to MLCAD’s palette myself, they turn up “undefined grey” on the graphical rendering. This really bums me out. If anyone knows how to fix this, please do let me know on morchaiel@hotmail.com

Parts: 120

I have yet to order the parts for the Nail, and assemble it, but I don’t expect any problems in the design. I am, however, preparing for some compensation regarding the colors.

I updated the Nail a bit, I discovered some small constructions errors (some parts were floating in the air). Also, I changed the ship’s steering from a steering wheel to a “space control panel”. I’m not sure why I put in a steering wheel to begin with... Anyway, the parts count went up a bit, from 116 to 120.

And I changed the pilot, for the sake of the picture ;-).
