Hyena

I had been thinking for quite a while about a rebuild of
Bulldog. This kind of shape is not seen that often. Once
when I looked at Delta on my MOC-shelf I had the idea
to build a bigger version of it. With the body placed
between the legs it should be able to get a shape similar
to Bulldog.

I started with the legs frame. My first attempts were too close to Delta. They didn’t look good at
the bigger size. In addition they didn’t work well. So i decided to try something different, closer to
Bulldog.

After some more failures and several longer breaks in
the building process I finally got a leg frame that was
acceptable.

The next to come was the connection of the legs. Due to the shape I was going for this Mecha
couldn’t get a regular hip. The body should be mounted to that connection in an underslung
position. Here I encountered a problem I hadn’t thought of: While the Macha is walking, the
body with the cockpit should stay in a stable horizontal position
.

Again it took several attempts until I had a working solution. Up to this point I had no idea
about the colour scheme. After a close look into my storage boxes the decision was easy. There
were only red, dark red and dark bluish grey bricks in an reasonable number left. So this should
become my first muti colour creation. When I look at the finished model now, I think trying the
colour scheme of the dino designer set would be worth a try.

Looking at my finished work I found that it had a mean and underhanded look. So it got it’s name
Hyena.
