Oddly the beast did not eat me, but placed me in a pile that contain, among other things, my three companions. 
Overjoyed at being reunited, I questioned them on how they came to this new location. He told me they were there waiting for what they called “The Sorting”. He explained the ogre would return presently and dismember them, placing their heads in one pile, their torso in another, etc. He then explained that the whole process was not painful, and soon every person would be reborn anew. 
He explained it as if it was a holy experience, but their strange customs were not mine and a left as fast as I could. 
Finding another pile of boards I soon constucted a makeshift bridge. 
After an dangerous crossing I was back with my horse... 
The culture of the Land Of Change will take some getting used to. The End |
