Varial Gyrofighter
Varial Industries’ Gyrofighter utilises a relatively new technology whereby a gyroscopic array is used to partially control the craft’s orientation, eliminating the need for some maneuvering thrusters and reducing the fighter’s mass and propellant usage. This helps give the fighter an edge in some combat situations. The Gyrofighter also utilises a swinging-engine design which adjusts for the craft’s centre of mass when carrying different payloads. This fighter is currently used exclusively in capital ships of the Terran Navy, such as the Empyrean Flame and the Lance Of Athena.
Builder’s Notes
- The minifig-scale version was based on the micro-scale version. A scale difference of approximately 1/8 was intentionally chosen to match the intended size of the fighter.
- Unfortunately, the fighter can’t land with the particle cannon attached - I guess that they have to pick up the lasers from the side of the carrier after they launch!
