In one way this is good news. A new transformer means that trains will
continue in one form or another.
My guess is that the 'new' transformer will include some expansion port like
the grey 12V transformer. This matches with other rumours I have heard about
remote controlled signals.

This means the end of 9V trains in my eyes: what will you dou with nothing but
an oval track layout?! Imagine: no points....  :-(

I'm pretty sure if train continues that new type of points will be there
too. Like you said, what fun is just an oval track?

There might be a pretty good reason for this: The current points switch the current as well, and for an automated layout it is not very usefull; so new points which DO NOT switch the current are needed. Maybe things make sence anyway. We can dicuss (...) (23 years ago, 7-Dec-00, to lugnet.trains)
