Ah. These are permanently affixed and retractable. My model is of the
kind that are taken off with a crane. The challenge with these is that
the covers get lost or mixed up. The covers usually have the RR company
logo on them and tracking numbers as well. Occasionally, I have seen a
gon with one cover on it from a different line. I think the retractable
kind is what lines are going with now.

I wonder about how the last few coils are gotten out from under the
covers, though (when the covers are retracted, there's still 1/3 of the
car covered by them).

BTW many Thrall cars are built in the US. Thrall makes a lot of
container specific stuff too.
