If you use one of the ovals to do the ends of an
oval, and use pieces
from the other oval to fill in the sides in a curvy pattern,
then you can do anything, as long as you put the same
arrangement in both sides of the oval.

What combinations can I make using pieces from two oval track
sets?  I've
tried several combinations but they always are a little off.

Or a mirrored one. You can make a fairly presentable dogbone that way.

You need to get yourself a copy of track designer. Go to the train depot
and get yourself a copy. This is a brilliant program! Far better to
doodle with track pieces on the PC than on the rug.
