you did the front grille in grey instead of black or dark grey though.

Tim,

Thanks for the comments.

The picture I posted is black and white to hide some of the off colored parts I
have had to temporarily use.  The real train under went a few changes in its'
life, as most do. I am trying to model it as delivered - 3 cars with wheel
cowlings. The train was golden brown and canary yellow.  The front grill was
painted brown.  Here is a color painting of the prototype:

Brown was out of the question for the real brick model.  I will make an Ldraw
file and render it in brown.  I am building in red and yellow.  I originally had
the grill in grey, but after looking at some photos I decided to make it the
same as the rest of the the body, red.

I have been thinking about how to build the front for a long time.  The nose is
mostly snot.  I am very hapy with the shape.

The model has shared trucks and runs well (fast).  I was excited and wanted to
post something even though it is not yet finished.  I will post more pictures
and Ldraw files as I completed them.

Bob

(...) Thwarted by the color and part availability! The Ldraw render should look great, and the red and yellow just fine. (...) Indeed, a fine shape you found for the nose. I like the use of the classic windows on an older style train. (...) Great to (...) (18 years ago, 24-Feb-06, to lugnet.trains)
