After what Grahame said about it, I was expecting something a bit
different. Lego seems to have continued this "futuristic" theme that was
started in 4559.

Notice this is 4561 is pictured.  Maybe Grahame is referring to a 4560 which
may be limited to certain countries...

Grahame? I doubt it though.

It appears to me that this set does NOT use train windows. Instead, it's
either using thinwalls or some other sort of other frameless glass in
the coaches. It's hard to tell from the picture if the coaches use the
drop center plates like 4559 did but it looks like it. Fairly
unprototypical as well.

Well I think the drop-centre plates are used in European double-deck trains to
get the extra room.

But this is not a double decker. If you want drop center, TLG, then
design a nice US commuter train like chicago area pushpull, or a nice US
long distance  bilevel, like Amtrak Superliner, or some euro
doubledecker. Stop with the drop center on single level.

Well, they have to make it internationally buyable but this isn't buyable at
all.

I'm not following that.

Well you have to be 9v complete..

So yes, I will get it, no doubt.

Anyway Larry - have you found anything out about the German 3225 with black
windows?

Carbon 60

GaryLouie did some digging, and he and I both now believe that photo was
a store building the set and modifying it. He got reports that the 3225
as shipped in Germany is the same piecewise as the 3225 we're getting
stateside.

(...) I was told that there would be extra train sets but only available by mail-order. Just what the sets are, I do not know. I shall be asking though at our next meeting. Grahame Reid (25 years ago, 7-Dec-98, to lugnet.trains)
