Just wanted to stop by and introduce myself. I'm Joe and though i live in the mid-hudson valley of NY i am originally from new Jersey (family still lives there) not far from Rockaway. Augie and I have kept up with the trains shows in Dover and have been invited to show at the HI Railers in Patterson. The 2005 season has come and gone and life has been busy for all of us. The team was 8 children of ages 10-13 and two mascots ages 8. Hopefully they are recruits for next season. We attended Dover Train Show on the 25th of September. Interest was high for our setup by the younger set. I put a mini cam in the Sante Fe Super Chief and showed the action through a TV. MichLUG just did a train show and they had two layouts. One was a moonbase with monorail and one was a regular town/train. So we have options: 1. make the display 16' x 4' 2. make a moonbase/monorail and a town/train each 8' x 4' patty (20 years ago, 1-Dec-04, to lugnet.org.us.gardenslug)

The Dover show was a success with our layout drawing a crowd all day. We also setup a play area which drew children all day long. Many children made creations and added them to the layout. How about a monthly part or theme for monthly challenge builds? Much like space does/did. The part would be decided upon at the meeting and then posted on the GardensLUG LUGNET page. Went to the Lego store today. On the topic of putting a flier in the store. The answer I got was "Not without approval from corporate. We are going to display a train layout at Dover Train show in Nov. But I have questions on what to do: 1. What Lugnet lists should I announce it to 2. Train Layout: (...) We decided to put a green cloth under the display instead of having solid baseplates underneath the entire display. The center of the display is solid baseplates.
