Anybody near there that might be able to pick up 3 to 5 of each of these
for me?

I can give you 15% plus actual shipping for your trouble, or drop me a
note if you want to haggle. These are both sets I'd like to have more
of.

Just returned this weekend from the Lego Outlet in Dawsonville. 3 things
caught my eye on this trip because of their age. There could have been other
stuff, but these 3 seemed the most unlikely finds (All catalogs in them are in
Japanese so I assume they must have been overstock.)
6038 Wolfpack Renegades - $6.87 (castle)
1815 Paridisa Lifeguard - $4.99 (paridisa)
6278 Enchanted Island - $34.59 (pirates)
All of them said "disc" in front of them on the receipt (Discontinued?) so
obviously there probably isn't a limitless supply, but there were at least 20
of the smaller sets and at least 10 of the larger.

I'd also be interested in some of these sets. I'd be interested in up to
6 6038 (I'd even offer $8 for it) and 2-3 6278 (for $40).

I would be happy to do some shopping for you...but someone told me I didn't
have too. Someone e-mailed me today saying she wanted me to pick up the
enchanted island set, but then wrote back that she had called the store and
they said that they would be happy to ship the sets since they will ship any
set no longer carried by S@H.
I'm afraid I don't know the number, but its the premium shopping outlet in
Dawsonville, Georgia. If anyone would post the number for the rest of the
group here I would sure appreciate it.
Sorry if I have forgotten names but I am really tired and am not going to even
bother cross posting about the 3 8480's I found in the ZB in Norcross, GA for
1/2 off. If anyone in this group wants them, good luck and good night.

I no longer need anyone to pick these up, I called the store and got the
quantities I wanted of each one. Thanks. However if someone went and got them
based on my asking for them, drop me a note, my offer will be made good.
I got some other goodies too...

They also had 6314 Town People from 1992 for $4.99! I'm not sure how many they
have left now.
They HAD 6649 Street Sweeper too, but they are now out.
If you want the 6038, you should call them SOON, they are down to 20.
The address is:
800 HIGHWAY 400, Suite 1050
Dawsonville, GA 30534
Phone: (706) 216-2800
It's in the North Georgia Outlet Mall.

Yay! I got six of these! I'm a very happy camper. I also managed to get 12 of the
6314 Town People and 4 of the 6399 Nebula Outposts (they have a bunch for $8.79)!
Great people there, very friendly and accomodating.

Luckily I called soon enough to get a few of the 6038's and a couple Town
people. If anyone goes to the outlet frequently, then drop a post whenever you
see something good. I want to make sure I dont miss out!

I was able to get the following sets 6038, 6899, 4314. They also had the 1821
for sale. The people there were truely fantastic.

What was the price on the 1821s (they didn't note that one when I called, and I had
them go through most of the Discount section and read set #s off to me)? It's a
nice parts set.

When I was at the Georgia store about a month ago they had some 1821 sets
for $7.99 - I bought two. It is a great set for vehicle parts and also
comes with a baseplate. When I called (this afternoon) they still had some.
They also found another case of 6038 sets so they have something like 70
more of them. Sounds like the market will be flooded with 6038 sets. I
also bought two of the 6038 sets to trade but they generated zero response
from the LUGNET/RTL community so I ended up putting them up on eBay. They
went for about $20 (far more than I thought they would). I wonder what the
influx of this set on the market will do to prices ...

I wouldn't be too surprised about the 6038 going for $20. I have only seen it
MISB a few times on ebay, and I remember them selling for $25. I think this
set was about $10 when it first came out, so its not too surprising that it
would double in value over the 7 or 8 years it has been out. Seems like most
castle sets do, if they are sealed.. on ebay anyway.

CRAP. I hope they have some 6038's left tomorrow (just called - the
number IS (706) 216-2800 - right? and they are closed). I thought
there was some bruhaha over the outlets shipping sets to people from a
while back so I ignored this.
If they have 70 now count on them having quite a few less than that
tomorrow. I haven't bought much of anything this season and I feel
like stocking up.

Noooo! Please, don't buy them out! I need those! I just want two, for gosh
sake, this is the closest possibility for me to get any WP figs anytime soon
(and at a normal price).
Please leave a couple for me... ;-)

If they have 70 when I call they will definitely have at least 2 when
I'm done. :) Maybe even 5.

I am glad you missed it. I actually got a chance to get a couple before you

I ordered six more at 6pm with no trouble. They said they just found a whole
lot more in another box or somesuch, go for it first thing tomorrow!

Go for it, I've got my dozen--and they'll become trade-fodder, no doubt, because
I'm not much of a castlehead.

Nah, I already have about 5-10 of them for parts, so I'd only really be
interested in them at $5 or less apiece.

BTW, my wife wants to go out with a friend shopping tomorrow so I'm taking my
daughter back up there. When I come back I'll try to provide a quick
inventory of the store (whatever I can get through while corraling a 2 year
old.) so that if there's anything someones missing they can give a call. My
order will probably be technic, then lego, then duplo. Anyone interested in
the other stuff like key chains, clothing, storage boxes? They also carry
some Belville and Scala.

I'd concentrate on 1997 or older sets. Those are the ones they will ship
from what I understand of the preceding posts.

I *think* I ordered 20 6038's yesterday. The man I spoke to was very
helpful and polite. I'm a little concerned because I haven't seen an
indication on my X.com account that the charge was run through (should
be around $160 or so). How long does it normally take for them to
actually make a charge? He said they would most likely go out that
day...
I wonder how much of their business is coming from the online
community now? Something tells me they don't normally make $1400 from
the sale of one set in a few hours from walk-in business...
Maybe someone should offer to set them up with a website and an online
ordering system?

I talked to someone who said he was the manager and he said he was
toying with the idea of hiring a person to: post to Lugnet when
something new came in, then man the phones to handle the calls.
They definitely know of the power of our craving. I almost got 40 of
those black thunders but I felt leaving just two behind would be a bit
cruel...
And, when I asked about whether he was breaking any rules he said "No,
I'm not. They hired me to move product. I'm moving it... and I don't
have to discount as much as some other stores do to move discoed stuff.
If you try to buy stuff you still can get at S@H I won't let it be sold
to you."
Head on his shoulders just right, I'd say. TLC ought to hire more like
him (AND Buffy...)

I think that would be a very GOOD idea, and I hope you told him so.
Having just bought a thousand dollars worth of product I bet your
opinion would carry a good bit of weight, even more than my paltry
$160 purchase.

Tell him to stop toying and do it! I know that I will. If anyone is planning
on calling them, then PLEASE suggest it. If he gets a bunch of people from
lugnet to suggest this, then he would be crazy not to hire someone.

Well the question is, are we a BIG enough market to keep a person busy
full time? Or would we be willing to conform to the hours a part timer
kept?

Maybe they could hire a full-timer who did other stuff when the orders

Hello,
I returned from my visit to the Georgia Lego Outlet in Dawsonville today. I'm
not sure that all these sets are not available through shop@home, you probably
know better than I do, so here is the first 20 of my best guess list with
prices (not including tax). I will follow up with more postings tomorrow of
other stuff I found. This includes all Technic, and some lego.
Technic
8428 Turbo Command $49.59
8437 Future Car 29.99
8891 Designers Idea Bood 7.19
8448 Super Street Sensation 109.99
8299 Search Sub with CD rom 27.99
8414 Mountain Rambler 30.99
8417 Mag Wheel Master 30.99
8479 Bar Code Multi Set 159.99
8456 Fiber Optic Multi Set 55.99
Lego
6190 Shark's Crystal Cave 41.59
6199 Hydro Crystalation Station 74.59
6160 Sea Scorpion 32.79
6854 Alien Fossilizer 4.95
6709 Tribal Chief 3.19
6836 V-Wing Fighter 3.19
6829 Radon Rover 6.19
6007 Bat Lord 3.99
6037 Witch's Windship 6.63
6027 Bat Lord's Catapult 4.94
6031 Fright Force 6.19
That's all for now. By the way, the store appreciates the orders (Holy cow
you should have seen the shipping boxes stacked up today) One thing, though,
they can't take Georgia orders if they are in Northern Georgia. If you live
in Atlanta, then you need to drive up. (Geez, traffic isn't that bad once you
get past the perimeter.)

I can't see employing someone full-time to do this. What I can see is
hiring a part-time kid to do it or maybe tacking it onto the duties of
another employee, if they aren't overworked already.
'Course, the store may not have a computer with net access...
Almost sounds like something one of us could do each day. Say I call
an hour after they normally get stock each day, get the listing of
sets they've received that they can sell to us (discontinued stuff),
and in exchange for using up 20 of my Sprint PCS minutes each week
they give me a 10% discount. I then post the results here, probably
without even taking my first pick.
No new employee, no forms to fill out, etc.
That doesn't handle the "someone to take all the orders" side of it,
tho...

Why is TLC discounting this at all??? Not selling? Because they love us?

This is about THE cheapest way to get any pneumo. AND lots of yellow
beams. You're probably safe from me as I got 20 when S@H was discounting
them... Anyone want the CDs? yours for cost of postage.

Lugnet DB has this as MSRP 30 so not a discount, or not much of one

Ditto

Ditto, MSRP 164.. HOWEVER this is hard to come by and if you like green

MSRP 74 so that's a good break...
I'll let someone else comment on the non Technic stuff

Is there anything good on the CD? I got the sub without the CD when S@H was
discounting them..

That came down in price since I was last there..It was over $200 which is
[a lot] more than it was at S@H ($164).

It was their first Technic CD I think. Nik likes it and still plays it
once in a while. It has neat exploded step by step (with translucency)
building instructions for the main and alternate models, some marine
facts, and some other stuff I forget, wrapped in a "I'm a technic guy
and I am giving you a tour of this underwater base" theme. It is surely
worth 2 or 3 dollars difference in price if you don't already have it.
It doesn't have as many activities as the car CD (Turbo Command? It's
packed so I forget) and no racing game per se, but stilll, I liked it.

Cool. I have one copy of this set as yet unbuilt plus a lot of the green
bits from another copy that someone parted out. I hear the code pilot
isn't that great. But I know someone who built a funicular railway that
is code pilot programmed, he showed it at the LegoLand opening day
nighttime lego fest back in March 99. So stuff IS doable using it. More
flexible than the micro scout, and you get some sensors and motors, I
think.

Hmm, that 164.00 sounds suspicious. Some of the numbers (typically ones
ending in .00) were originally entered by LouZ long ago for the original
Pause resource, and a number like 164.00 would've been the marked-up S@H

No it probably wouldn't. I started this thread by posting a couple prices and
sets that were unusual (forgot about the nebula outpost though). For the most
part though, the store gets a lot of the same stuff over and over again, the
stuff that's not all that great tends to just sit there.

I don't like to talk about anyone working conditions but here is my take.
Dawsonville is in the middle of nowhere in the scheme of metro Atlanta. I
imagine they get bus groups, but what is the average age of those folks?
During weekdays most kids are in school, so the parents probably won't bring
them along. My guess is that the weekends are big business, the weekdays
probably aren't. That's just my guess though.
> 'Course, the store may not have a computer with net access...
They may. I know the computers they use for checkout are actual computers
because they demoed (sp?) the lego locomotive train software for someone on
them once. Whether they have modems is another question though...

My thought is you probably wouldn't need to go through all that. From what I
have seen, the inventory doesn't change that much. If the manager looked at
the lists I'm posting this weekend, he could probably just update it
occasionally, like every two weeks. BTW there is never any train stuff since
ONE guy keeps on buying all of it (Thanks for sharing!!! :)

The 8479 Bar Code Multi Set was 164.00 in S@H. The 8456 Fiber Optic Multi Set
was 74.00 in S@H. So probably the MSRP's were 149.99 and maybe 66.99
respectively. For #8456 it may be worthwhile to check Toy Liquidators
periodically because they had them the end of last summer for $39.99 (the
sticker on the box says, "$64.99 value" FWIW). You never know.... Friday I
found a 6079 Dark Forest Fortress unopened that someone must have returned
after Christmas (after several Christmases!) at a TRU in the Sacramento area.
Of course, I was willing to pay the 49.99 MSRP, although normally I hate to pay
full price.

(This is final installment earlier post that I have continued to build on with

Hello,
I returned from my visit to the Georgia Lego Outlet in Dawsonville today. I'm
not sure that all these sets are not available through S@H, you probably know

It's in the North Georgia Outlet Mall.
By the way, the store appreciates the orders (Holy cow you should have seen
the shipping boxes stacked up today) One thing, though, they can't take
Georgia orders if they are in Northern Georgia. If you live in Atlanta, then
you need to drive up.

I sure hope they could hire a full-timer...I am going to find out Monday
morning to see if they would be williing to hire me. I live in Atlanta and am
a student at GA Tech (not in school this semester) and really need a job.
Will let everyone know,

According to Technica (see
<http://w3.one.net/~hughesj/technica/registry/axle/axle_2.html>), this set has
*green* cross-axles (I wouldn't know, my only copy is hidden away, waiting for
my son's birthday). Those axles would more reason to nab this set.

Yes, it does. I know of green, black and white. Any other colors?

Yup, Red (8448) and Translucent White (the original axles). :)

And it looked to me like the new X-Wing will have some grey axles.

I forgot to mention one set of products. They have these neat little coloring
books for 99 cents each. I'm not a big coloring book fan, but obviously they
are pretty old as the covers are glossy and show scenes from Blacktron and
other older sets. There are 3 different ones that might be worth dropping an
extra $3 on just to have them.

I'd be interested in a list of what kinds of memorabilia/novelty items
like this that they have (and will they ship these). I keep seeing some
of these things on eBay, and would love to pick some of them up, but
can't justify the markup.
