Hello,

Here is a link to pics of the 30,000 piece cable-stayed bridge I built 7
years ago after the suspenson bridge.

The first two pics show as it appeared in my basement.

The remaining three pics show how it appeared in the front window of the
Lancaster Zany Brainy.

I'll be more than happy to answer any questions.  I had attempted twice to
post this message with more detail info about the bridge, but failed to
successfully post.

Enjoy

The folks at the local Zany Brainy were nice enough to let me come set up a
single table display and show off my spooky Lego creations for Halloween
this year.  I finally got some pictures developed and posted to Brickshelf
to share with folks:

http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=28326

The display included my Ghostline Express train that I had on display at
BrickFest.  To go along with the train I built a small station and platform.

Other creations on display included a graveyard, my pumpkin patch, the
Witches Woods and a small mountain with a tunnel through it and the open-air
laboratory of the Mad Scientist on top.

The one MOC that I was particularly happy with is the tan & sand green tower
which has at the top of it revolving Harry Potter figs on broomsticks (from
4726 Quidditch Practice).  I used the micro-motor from the Studios Backdrop
Set (1351) to spin the broomriders.

Folks who took time to stop and check out the display were very
complimentary and I received the ususal "Lego makes trains?" and "I haven't
seen this set before" comments.  Unfortunately I didn't get as many viewers
as I had hoped due to the fact that I was set up just inside the store and
most Trick-or-Treaters were (of course) there for the candy. So they mainly
just passed by, grabbed some loot and kept on moving.

Next year, I'm going to see if I can set up out in the mall itself.  I think
I'll get a lot more folks stopping by to check out the display who otherwise
wouldn't actually bother to come inside the Zany Brainy.  Plus, I want to
expand to a two table set-up next year and the ZB would not have room for that.

Enjoy the pictures.

Now that September's here, I wanted to post and let folks know about
RichLUG's next train show that will be happening the last two weekend's of
this month.

Last year (in November) we put on our first public display as part of the
annual RF&P Model Railroad Show and Sale at the Science Museum of Virginia
(here in Richmond).  This Fall marks the 25th anniversary of the show and it
is supposed to be the biggest one yet.

In addition to the regular exhibitors, there are supposedly going to be some
international groups showing off their displays.  The museum's online
calendar also says that the show will feature the largest N-scale layout in
America.  And, it seems that the writer of the event description also
remembered the big sensation RichLUG made last year because both entries
mention the amazing "Lego layout" that will be part of the show.

Link to SMV calendar: http://www.smv.org/news/index.html

The event has also been listed on the LEGO.com Train Recreation Station
Events calendar:
http://www.lego.com/eng/trains/recreationstation/events.asp

For more information about the museum please visit their website - www.smv.org.

Everyone is invited to come out and see the RichLUG display.  You're also
welcome to bring your own trains to the show and see them run on a layout
slightly bigger than the one you can set up at home in the living room (or
even the basement!).  You're even welcome to come hang out with us all
weekend if you'd like - we could use some help manning the tables.  Just let
us know if you're interested.

Hope to see some of y'all there!  Be sure to stop by and say "Howdy."

Greg
