I might could make this, Joe. I’ll have four(-ish) modules if we do a moonbase, and some big red capital ships. Who else is in?

Hi all,

Who's attending Brickfest this year from North Carolina? Anyone interested in
getting together during the Fest to chat? If so reply here!

Joe Meno
NCLUG Press Officer:)

Joe's done a phenomenal job here in the Raleigh-Durham area organizing regular
meetings -- Yay, Joe! It was great to meet some new people at GATS this weekend.
I hope that Dan from Chapel Hill and Cyndi from Durham and others can contribute
to future train shows, if only to help set up or man the layout. And MOCs of any
size are always welcome.

So, I'm interested in an NC gathering at BrickFest. I know Thomas Main from
Boone is coming. Who else?

Friday and Saturday I have the house to myself, so I could host.

I can possibly do friday, but saturday is out.  I could probably host next
week sunday night through wednsday night.

It sounds like Friday night is a good bet. Next week I could do Monday
or Tuesday evening, and a remote possibility of Sunday.

Something also to think about is if anyone knows a community center or
library or something where we could have an open meeting and possibly
find other AFOLs who might not be internet savvy enough to find Lugnet
(or might not realize that they might not be alone in their hobby).

I have just moved into a new house and have my tables set up without any lego
on them.

thanks

I'd rather choose a night when more folks like Mike and James could make it,
though. Any night except Wednesdays are usually free for me. I also remember
some older posts where Thomas Main in Boone preferred weekends and Karim
showed some interest in hosting; I've cross-posted this in case they haven't
been getting this thread.

This Fri.pm or Sat.pm would be okay also.   Agreed, more people is better.

Unless we come up with a specific weekday evening which is good for more • folks,
and/or we feel that having a gatherthing this weekend would make folks less
likely to do a weekday meeting the following week or so, I'd suggest we go
ahead with a meeting this weekend, and if we manage one next week also, hey,
that's cool!

I've been starting to build up quite a pile of surplus parts, so a
trading session would be cool. I'd also love to see some kind of
building session. Perhaps we could select one of the Walmart Star Wars
value packs and each buy one, and see what we can build.

Haven't been to Walmart recently. Only value packs I know of are the $49.99
ones at Target.  Too steep for me.

Actually, I meant TRU value packs... They have a $29.95 one (Tie/Y-Wing +
Snowspeeder) and a $19.95 one (Sith Infiltrator + Naboo Swamp).

Mike, if you are able to come could you bring the G2K PNLTC video? I would
like to borrow it/see it.

I'd love to see it also. We could watch it as an activity.

While I can't imagine having any parts to trade, the rest of you sound like
you do.  Specific elements you are looking for???
I am looking for a train  to buy for my 10 yr old for the holidays.  Starting
at ground zero, so a bit of everything is needed.  Only after I have filled
her request can I think about one for me.

It's a real shame the 4561 is such a lame train (not that 4559 was that much
better - 4565 or 3225 are the only decent trains which have been available in
the past couple years). Probably the best bet if you don't mind giving her a
"custom" set is to scrounge up the various train bits from S@H service packs,
and hunting down a cheap controller and train motor.

Gosh, I hope this gathering  happens... I am tired of being a "responsible
adult".

So do I.

I've been making some very serious progress on sorting stuff. My pile of
not-huge sets is steadily diminishing. I've been processing about a copy paper
box worth of sets per evening, sometimes more. I might manage to catch up just
in time for the 2001 sets at Christmas...

Frank
