Once upon a time, (on Fri, 18 Jun 1999 10:17:39 GMT, to be precise!), Liam
Parnell uttered the following profundities....
Hello fellow countrymen,  I'm near Ross-on-Wye which brings me to the
subject of my rant...  It's a half hour drive to either Hereford or
Gloucester, and  the only place I can find to buy Lego is Geoffrey
Girraffe's evil lair.
Hello, and welcome!
Your best bet for Lego, nowadays, seems to be Argos. Never
anywhere near a complete range, but at least the prices are
better.

Hello fellow countrymen,  I'm near Ross-on-Wye which brings me to the

If Lego intends to protect their good name they should be more choosy
about who they appoint as guardians of the sacred brick.  The way TRU
represents their product is truly shameful.

A horse, a horse, my kingdom for a horse:

My sister bought this little fellow
     http://www.lugnet.com/pause/search/?query=6008-1
only to find that the box had been torn open and his highness's horsey was
gone.  TRU had craftily covered up the torn box with a price tag!
Luckily I got the Customer Support number and Lego sent a replacement
horse.  I find it hard to believe TRU did not know the horsey was missing.

Boat for sale, needs work:

TRU had this fine ship getting dusty on their shelf
     http://www.lugnet.com/pause/search/?query=6280-1
unfortunately, the box was battered and torn with bits of tape holding it
together.  A quick shake of the box and it was obvious that not all of the
pieces were there.  I took it to the counter and showed them the damage.
They said they would knock 50 pence off !!!!  Quote: "If no one
buys it we just send them back".  Lo and behold, next time I went in, it
was back on the shelf.  They fully intend to sell an incomplete Lego set
to some unsuspecting dupe.

Soon they'll have more MegaBlocks than Lego:

TRU has more shelf space available to Lego than most shops, but they don't
carry a decent range of sets.  When they had trains, they never had track.
The only road section they have is crossroads.  When they eventually got
Space Port, they only had two sets.  My local Woolworths got the Star Wars
ages before TRU!
