For your edification....

I have just about completed my Metro Terminus Station.
You can view it at
http://www.thewilkesfamily.freeserve.co.uk/metroterminus.htm

Something for train fans.
Something for architecture fans.

FYI
It covers 6x 48 stud baseplates.
There are another 4x 48 stud baseplates in the roof
There are 18 packets of transulcent blue wall elements, i.e. 450 pieces, that
make up the glass walls of the platforms, and some of the roof.

However, its not likely to remain in this form.
I want to reuse the front part of the station (the Georgian Facade) in my
Metro Plaza project (the station covers one side of it). I will turn it into a
civic building type thing. Meanwhile the station will get a new high tech
front like the rest of the station.

regards
lawrence

Thats sounds BIG.
Funny enough, my son wants us to build an airport terminal for our next
project. The big plates and lots of glass walls lend themselves nicely to the
high tech design of most modern airports.
We did have a 'pilot' project, but decided a major stumbling block at present
was that we would need to build large scale aircraft too. A normal lego
airplane from a set looks a bit absurded up against a jetway and a airport on
this sort of scale.
Will finish my Metro Plaza first.

And I am indeed edified by your edifice! Thanks!

This station rocks. Raises the bar for large train stations, and then some.
LOTS of neat detail. One suggestion, I think the thing being played in the bar
looks more like an air hockey table to me... my policy is if something looks
like something (even if it's not the something I thought it was going to look
like) call it that! :-)

Good page layout too.

thanks for the comments.
Yes, your not the first to comment it looks more like air hockey. But I dont
think I have come across a air hockey table in a British pub or bar, mainly
amusement arcades. (funny enough I was playing air hockey today with my
daughter on the end of Weston Super Mare pier)
Still, who said this station had to be in the UK?

That appears to be happening, it's got 5 votes already as of this posting and
I predict it will get a number of additional ones since it has two bangs and
is already sorting to the top of some of the hotlists. Someone nominate this
page for CLSotW, eh? :-) [ I hereby invoke the name of "Todd Lehman" to set
off the secret scanner he is rumored to have, which watches for utterances of
his Name and alerts him so he can read what is said :-) ]

It has my vote for CLSOTW for sure (and a nomination of course)

wow, Wow, WOW!
Other people have to write posts about the great detail, all the minifigs*
cool roof construction** and the size of it, because I am speechless... ;-)

-Frank

* I'm a big fan of displays where the minifigs are actually doing something
instead of 'just being there', your station also works great as diorama!
** Both the baseplate span and the tilted roof, I have no idea what that
building style is called but I really like it!

I am working on a 'day in the life' of Metro Terminus . Setting up the
minifigs for the morning rush hour, the daytime where tourists etc are more in
common, then the evening rush hour, finally late evening when the drunks are
on their way home, and then maintenance at night.
I also planning a 'football special' arriving on Saturday afternoon, with
plenty of police in waiting! Though this might wait for the completion of the
plaza in front of the station. (euro 2000....)

Its meant to be a high tech look, with the 'glass walls'. It probably would
have been better with grey (for steel) rather than black, but I just didnt
have the pieces.

<Snip>

Your station is awesome! Great details, great use for the trans-blue thin
walls. I love the architecture.

I think you'll have to build an ambulance for the blue and red minifig in the
second picture on the right (pa 070317.jpg)-bottom left corner of the pic. He
seems to have fallen and can't get up. ;-D Or maybe he just had too much to
drink at the bar :-)

This is fantastic, Lawrence.  Absolutely stunning.
The roof structures, both arching and "glass" are excellent, and the interior
details are splendid.  Congrats!!
Wow....

I have seen things online that are good & great.
I have seen things that impress & inspire me.

This station makes me want to quit creating with lego.
(though I won't)

Congrats! This is fantastic.
