Ooops! Yes! I started writing a mini-review of it on Saturday but I had to
postpone it..
I think everyone will agree that it was a successful event. The task for the
day was to re-create a version of Macintosh's Rose - the one they had pre-built
contained a background of 1xX transparent red bricks - hundreds of them!
*drool*
Then we saw the custom cars - a green landrover, a discovery type black
vehicle, and a red sports car. These were all *fantastic*, built mostly out of
plates and used half-studded modelling techniques. The windows were transparent
plates - argh! Severe drool material. Ian took some photos so this will
probably make more sense then :)
They dragged out a large crate full of mixed Lego for the younger ones to build
with, while the older ones helped with the rose. The crate however contained
tan, dg grey, grey and brown in abundant quantities, not a burp in sight. The
only jr'ised element I saw was one 1x1x5 tan block.
Needless to say, playing with that box was great fun! And the children thought
so too! Stuart took advantage of the surplus of tan bricks and made a rather
cool 'Cartman' from South Park, half-hidden amid the rest of the childrens
creations for the final display, it was a nice little bit of subversion!
The Lego Expert Builder was called James. Ian did most of the befriending, so
I'll let him relate the news. Besides which, I didn't hear all of the
conversation - but the bits I did hear sounded interesting! James also had the
amazing ability to pull a cheesy grin *from no-where* for the camera, when
asked about it, he referred to it as a "Cheeky Monkey Grin", if the pictures
come out you'll see what I mean! He's the first Lego employee that I've talked
to, but he was really open and friendly!

Weird, admission was by ticket here too, but that only applied to the children!
1 hour isn't really enough, but it should be enough to look at the models and
drool at the play-box!

It was a Lego Story book, along the lines of "Insectiods Invasion!" etc.
This is one thing that Lego excell at - they should do it more often - Please!

| Dear all, Was the Scotish leg of this event worth going to ?. The Sheffield one is in complete confusion - date changed to the 25th, Ottakars not existing in Sheffield (it's at something called The Mission Launch) and 18.00 - 19.00 admission by (...) (25 years ago, 15-Nov-99, to lugnet.loc.uk)
