One more piece of advice ... parking ...

Thanks, Kerry. Do they have a car park, or somewhere handy for unloading
stuff?

Good question.

Despite driving past there to/from work every day for the past 15 years, I
hadn't even considered the possibility of there being an on-site car park. So
this morning, I stopped the car and got out and looked.

Yes, they *do* have some on-site parking (about 7 spaces) behind the hotel;
the entrance is on Westminster St. This entrance also serves the drive-through
bottle shop, so, even if the car parks are full, I think you would still find
enough space to park temporarily for loading/unloading purposes.

In the aforementioned 15 years, I have in fact visited the hotel precisely
twice (both occasions being an emergency visit to the bottle shop). I need to
get out more :-)

Kerry

One more piece of advice ... parking ...

The Indooroopilly Hotel is bounded by three streets: Coonan St(which runs
beside the railway station), Station Road (which runs up to Indooroopilly
Shoppingtown) and Westminster St (which crosses the railway line).

Apart from a couple of odd spots, there is no parking on either Coonan or
Westminister St.

There is street parking on Station Road both sides, and on Riverview Terrace
(which comes off Station Road). If both these areas are parked up (often the
case due to the Eldorado 8-cinema complex in Cooonan St), the best place to
park  on a weekend is to drive across the railway line on Westiminster St and
then first right down Railway Avenue (the other side of the railway station).
Park somewhere in that area, and then walk through the tunnel under the
railway station to get back to the hotel. It's quite a convenient location to
park thanks to the tunnel (I often use it for parking to go to the cinema) but
it's probably not immediately obvious unless you are a local.

For those of you without your own transport, BUGs will coming from many
directions of Brisbane, so post your location and we will see how could pick
you up. If you'd prefer to make your own way, the railway station
(Indooroopilly on the Ipswich line) is across the street and the bus
interchange is a minute's walk away at Indooroopilly Shopping Town (just ask
someone to point you in the direction of the station).

A couple of questions.

1.I noticed both Kev and Richie have replied. Are Richard and Pete still keen?

2.Are we still hireing a van? (truck/semi depending on amount of LEGO taken
*grin*) IIRC Richard was looking into that. Report Richard?
Are there any suggestions/objections to travelling in one vehicle?

3.What needs to be done accomodation wise? IIRC Kev stuck his hand up for
this one, or do we need to suss out alternatives?

Andrea and I are driving to Coffs Harbour on the 6th probably and Staying at
my Mums place, then driving with her to QLD as she is staying on the Gold
Coast over the long weekend.. so we're staying with her.
I had a look if there's any accomodation on the Gold Coast.... but cause its
the Long weekend.. and its the Winter Sun Festival, there is hardly any
available... sorry... :  (

Thats three, which is only a couple in the scantest sense. I'd better stop
now, I remember where too many questions got me last time...

BRIKWARS...
I'll let the boys/guys/blokes etc to organise that one ;)

To play we'll need some players and armies.
A decent table (or two)
Half a dozen baseplates of buildings/objectives/targets/places to run behind.

If you're a Queenslander and have absolutly no interest in Brikwars, please
consider bringing a built baseplate anyways, save us interstaters carting
too much around.

I'll be having the PDF-Brikwars printed up proper like. Since it's cheaper
to have more than one done at once does anyone else want a copy all nice and
neat? (around $15 to cover costs, assuming more than three copies)
I can pay up front and accept payment when I hand the thing over. Please
reply here or e-mail if interested.

Many thanks, can't wait to meet you all, we'll have a ball!
Mel
P.S. I know I have said some of this before, but not everyone reads
everything :)

I'm looking forward to it too. BTW TYVM for organising this! (You too Kerry!)
