Hey everybody!!

Just had our Chicago Legofest today, and we had a blast!!  In attendance
were myself, Brandon Grifford, Jameson Gagnepain, Greg Howell, Jeff Rutt,
Chris Leach, Chris's wife (my apologies, her name escapes me), and Zach
Hanna.

I brought a lot of my space MOCs and quite a bit of stock space sets, mostly
M:Tron, Futuron, BT1 and BT2.  I also lugged along MIBO, my technic shuttle,
misc. paraphanelia (sp?), and the Kidvention posters.  I was also working on
my space research vessel there, which unfortunately I was unable to complete
before the fest.

Brandon brought some of his MOCs, plus our Destroyer semi-capship model.  A
notable model from him is the Scorpion assault bomber - a great ship with a
really sweet detailed cockpit :)

Chris Leach brought with him a mockup of his airport project - he's building
an airport with (10 or 20, I forgot which) terminals - its gonna be HUGE!!
He also brought an office tower (stood between 3 and 4 feet tall), some
various buildings, and a LOT of monorail track!  Notable models from him are
an Air Force One (on my brickshelf pictures), as well as a stock and a
modified 17..something......hehe :)  an airplane promo set.

Greg Howell brought along his Illswich models, and his recent space
creations, including an awesome mecha and a microfig scale carrier vessel
thingy (he posted these in .space a couple days ago, but their names escape
me).

Jameson had a few of his creations including a very nice fighter/bomber
plane with a very nice interior control room.  Very sleek and stylish with
slope bricks arranged masterfully.  I believe he says an LDrawing of it will
come sometime soon! :)

The rest of the guys just came along to hang out with us.  It was great
meeting newly converted AFOL Jeff Rutt, and Zach Hanna is an old friend I
ran into at another friend's party last night - a semi-AFOL as well.  For
those of you who don't know, Brandon Grifford is my best friend and the
co-owner of Zacktron with me.  Unfortunately he doesn't have a computer at
home so he has been unable to participate here online like I have.

Without further ado, the pictures are here:

Enjoy!!  LMKWYT!!

FYI - there was some mention of a Michigan fest, before and after this event
today.  It seems that there's in having something near Lansing.  I'll be in
Boston for college, but when I'm back on break I'm game.  Thinking of having
it there makes it central for the OH guys as well as the IN people.  Plus,
gives a greater chance of Michigan folk coming too!  If anyone else is
interested, post and we can try to work something out for it.  We really
need more activity in this part of the country.  I was pleased at the event
today, but it really could have been bigger.  It was a bad weekend for a
few, unfortunately.  Keep this in mind!!  Festing is a lot of fun and I
think that if we tried we could get a pretty good group going.

PS - missing from the fest were Tamy Teed, Joel Kuester, Mike Perri, and his
friend.  We were hoping to see you there, and we're sorry you couldn't make
it!!  Hopefully next time!!
