I stopped by my local TRU, Mira Mesa/San Diego, on Tuesday and I think I stepped into a time warp. They had all 4 sets from the new Thomas DUPLO line . As well as the new LEGO Large Dump Truck, 7344 ! Non of these show up on S@H or any other fan listings as being avalible.

I picked up the smallest Thomas kit, 5556 Percy at the Water Tower. It comes with Percy, 2 sections of straight track (Dk Bley), and some blocks to make a water tower.

These trains are stubby, even by “Thomas the Train” standards. They all come with some track. The engine is 3 large peices set on a DUPLO steam baseplate. You can put an engineer in the cab, but there are no cutouts for the cab windows! And a shame for LEGO builders, the faceplate is molded in place on a large front peice.

None of the trains are powered, I may make a powered tender for my son. Also the switch track has changed. It is no longer a rotating switch, but a slider.
