Hi Dan,
Yes, it does seem quite a bit faster for me when I search. Looks like the
upgrade was definitely effective!

Peeron has been growing by leaps and bounds since our last major upgrade two
years ago - especially after the instruction scan library was moved from
http://brickshelf.com to PICSL. While this
is great news many of you will have noticed that recently we have been
serving pages sluggishly. The main bottleneck appears to be the server
memory. We want to bring our speed back up to what we all expect and to do
this we need to upgrade the servers memory.

Peeron currently gets over 350,000 visitors each month and another 100,000
to LDraw.org. This is more than three times the traffic
we had when we switched to this server 2 years ago. Hopefully with this
upgrade well be able to continue this growth!

According to the donation page, it looks like youve already hit your goal!
Thats pretty impressive, considering that the percentage chart was only at
2% when I donated a couple of days ago. David Fuzzy Gregory

From what Ive seen the goal has been reached in less than 24 hours...and
probably, thats my personal guess, in a very few hours.
Thats, IMO, not surprising, because the initial amount of 400$ is pretty low
and because both Dan as a person & Peeron as a service are so much appreciated.
Dont forget : To support Peeron, you also have to submit inventories (one thing
Im not used to do :-( )

Not a public one, at least not yet. There is a private one, used by a
few apps.

Yes, it slurps the html pages and tries to parse them. I won't comment
on what I think about parsing HTML ;)

And the Peeron version allows you to specify parts that you own rather than just
sets. So if you got some stuff at Pick-A-Brick or BrickLink, you have the option
of acknowledging that you have it. Handy in terms of being able to pick your
list arbitrarily, though-- and in the "ignore X" options (although I imagine it
takes some effort to define what a "basic" or "minifig" part is, etc)
Where's it getting its data from? Is it slurping Peeron on the fly? Looks like
it's slurping sets that it doesn't already have cached... And if it takes longer
than 70 seconds pulling set data, it gives up.

The best link to use is:
http://www.br-eng.info/words/?page_id=29&ins_set=10030-1
All the instructions with peeron entries can be linked that way.

Yah, need to figure out the CSS to fix that.

I guess so! Look under the "Need Building Instructions" - "FREE
Download: Available from PICSL".

I didn't forget about that, and even managed to get LEGO's ok for it.
Just a matter of writing a little bit of code for it :)

In Firefox, this seems to overlap the edge of the yellow box, looks a bit weird.
I'm probably blind, but I can't see a link on the set page to the PICSL entry,
did I miss it? I think it would be a useful addition. Also, I'm happy for you to
provide a link to my Instruction Cross Reference page for sets less than 3 years
old, if you think that would be useful.

Could anyone please shoot and submit a picture of set #5493 - Limited Edition
Tub ? Im making an inventory of this set, but due to a broken camera Im unable
to submit a picture myself. The set is currently available in European ToysRUs
shops, in a combined pacage with set 4780 for
EUR 29,99. Set #5493 has a designation limitid Edition printed on the box
labels, but there is no theme or line specification next to the part number.
With friendly greetings, M. Moolhuysen.

Nod - it's not a major change in any means. It's still a change to a
published API to the database, and being completely open, we have no way
of know who (if anyone) is using it.
I've updated peeron to deal with the new values (all it took was
changing one line).
Just something to keep in mind, for future changes! :)

Hi Dan,
sorry, I haven't known. It was about inserting an extra column between "name"
and "pcs." only. Do you know who else could be affected? I would advice these
people via eMail.
